🥑 Elemental Shaman, PVP - Question on specs, versatility

Hello all. Some questions for the Shaman experts

My play will consist largely of battlegrounds, wPVP, farming mobs, gathering, and casual instanced PVE, with wPVP being where I have the most fun. I’m not interested in (or able to afford) routinely having to respec for the most optimized build, so need something that is well-rounded enough. I’m comfortable healing in group content but don’t want to sacrifice in wPVP to optimize for it.

  • What are the pros and cons between deciding between Elemental Mastery and Nature’s Swiftness?
  • How do tidal mastery and call of thunder stack? additive to 11%, or?
  • How much mileage can I get out of improved ghost wolf for wpvp encounters? is it worth dropping tidal mastery for?
  • Will I be able to focus on mail gear, or prioritize cloth (or some leather)?
  • Once reaching 60 (or approaching 60) what starter crafted gear should I aim for? Are there any good gearing guides to out there to bridge me to 60 and thereafter? (I expect I’ll grind and pay for crafted or BOE gear moreso than grind for drops, when given comparable options)

Thanks any and all in advance

Don’t have time to answer all atm but the build you’re looking for seems to be 30/0/21 ele resto. elemental mastery is not worth at all. Improved ghost wolf is too deep in to enhance, not worth. Too many vital talents in other builds.

edit:
source: play a metric frick ton of ele/resto shaman on premade servers and voldemort server and also gladiator shaman on live

I took NS over Elemental Mastery in vanilla. The pro is that you can Lightning Bolt > NS > Lightning Bolt > Earth Shock another player in the time it takes you to effectively cast the first lightning bolt - There’s little room for the player to react and if all 3 crit, they could simply be dead from that combo.

I’m pretty sure I wore all mail at the time. I wore every dungeon blue I could grab that had crit on it. That does include Dire Maul however, so that might limit some of the pieces you’ll have available at launch.

Thanks, yea—debating 31/0/20, 30/0/21, and the potential for 31/7/13—essentially trading that extra 5% crit and totemic mastery for the mobility of a 1s ghost wolf, but wasn’t sure if that would pay off in 1v1 matchups against melee (or if I needed it at all).

Just a small bit of dabbling on unofficial servers but not much in terms of group play, nor am i experienced to know whats really best anyway. I liked the mana efficiency and guaranteed crit from elemental mastery but see how nature’s swiftness would be much more versatile in a pinch

NS saves your life against rogues who now how to kill poison cleansing totem. EM does you no good when you’re dead AF. Also world PvP totemic mastery is fantastic. Although you could potentially drop it with tier 1 set bonus.
