I really like elemental shamans. I know almost every rDPS is better but I play for fun.
That being said – how the F do I deal with rogues and cat druids and to some extent hunters in Battlegrounds?
I feel as soon as one of them classes sees me, they stop whatever they are doing and go right for me. I only have Thunderstrike and Astral Shift for defensive CDs and they are kinda useless.
Advice for play Ele shaman please.
And before you do it, I do want to play Ele shaman, so posting crap like “Play Ret, Git Gud, lol u suck” doesnt help.
Feral you kinda just gotta go for the damage. Keep purges on their Predatory Swiftness proc (by default is a little cat face icon that should glow) it heals them for an extroadinary amount. AND KICK CONVOKE THE SPIRITS. ALWAYS KICK CONVOKE THE SPIRITS.
Vs Hunter you should really just crush them. Stay Close, distance is their friend not yours. You want to Lightning Lasso them on their Aimed Shots, Pump damage into them and heal when you can.
Vs Rogues you probably just lose. Sorry, if there was a class designed to hard counter shaman it would be rogue.
Earthshield healing stream totem cap totem and sometimes use an echo shock for healing surge versus doing damage. All three of those classes very easy to beat for an ele shaman with trinket up you can even lasso into their trinket so you half stun dr cap totem and cast hex As it lands heal to full and win.
Other options Thunderstorm hex thunderstorm healing stream totem earth ele half stun hex.
There is a lot of ways for ele to win the fight you just can’t try to go toe to toe with rogue until you get some hp back from the opener. It’s even okay to take a kick early on during astral shift and just flame shock echo shock while you nature locked then double healing surge.
I feel like Primal elementalist is needed in PVP right now because of the stun and wall.
If you know there is a rogue around having earth ele out is key, also, I think you get more out of sprit wolf talent (20% reduction from ghost wolf) than you do from earth shield in a rogue opener.
Necrolord gives a couple of nice defensives in fleshcraft and the 15% shield when below 50% HP in the soul bind as well. The venthyr ability chain harvest is actually not bad as well as it gives you two ways to cast a heal so if you get kicked you can cast healing surge.
Yeah. “wall” typically refers to any cooldown that is similar to warrior’s Shield Wall cooldown.
instead of saying, astral shift, harden skin, undening resolve, survival instincts, people just usually refer to them as “wall” its all basically the same thing. instant damage mitigation on a cooldown.
After their stun you have to weigh how much health you lost, if they pop an immunity trade wall
If they pop offensive cds just trinket and in that heartbeat decide if you will wall or if you can afford to bait interrupts on your fire school.
Keep in mind you can echoing shock to double a heal on yourself so you can echoing shock into lava burst (flame shock after hardcasting) which will net you 9 to 18k damage, if kicked you can spam heal or hex
Now adays I don’t thunderstorm the initial stun unless they pop cds and I don’t want to trink i will wait til near end of the stun so when my gcd ends and they use a gap closer I can drop cap totem or lasso
Vs a warrior for example (or any melee that doesn’t have a teleport so I can stun them at a distance) I will spam lasso to catch their charge, vs other melee I will cap totem so I can get a free heal if they try to out range the stun
From there its juggling cap totem/lasso/spirit walkers grace/hex to maintain space/cast
