Elemental Shaman Needs something! Please

Why would a group bring a elemental shaman over a mage or warlock.

The mage gives 5% intellect.
The warlock can summon and give health stones, battle rez, soul stone for runback protection

Shaman can lust. So can evoker who has a buff. So can BM who is more mobile. Mage has lust and gives int buff.

So if you need lust DPS, mage is just better than shaman in almost all ways. Gives lust, more reliable DPS, and buffs the whole party useful if you have heavy spellcaster group.

Shaman can Ankh… and then die right away after ankhing. Lol

The elemental shaman gives nothing. And they are not exactly reliable on DPS since they rely on RNG much more than other classes (mastery is a chance to proc, so more procs equal better performance) . Other classes will have more steady reliable performance

I propose to give elemental the spellcaster version of windfury. Give them skyfury. 20% chance for party members to have ranged attacks duplicated at x% reduced whatever.

This way its super simple for raid leads.

Enhancement buffs melee groups.
Elemental buffs ranged groups.

seems like a no brainer

Half the spells you named, shamans don’t even talent into.

Can mages and warlocks spec into them? Respeccing is clicking a button out of combat now.

Wow just the sheer ignorance of this post is staggering. Obviously you don’t play shaman at a high level lol.

I am talking about raiding specifically mythic but also heroic to some extent as some heroic RL will want to minmax if they have a parser mindset.

None of those things are sought after. Raid group want a mage for int buff and lust. No raid leader is going to say “lets get a shaman for second earth shield” LOL / “Lets get an elemental shaman incase the tank dies, we have the earth pet” . Even Mana Spring - which is nice - this is taken by enhancement, and enhance drops windfury for melee.

They want a mage to buff 5% int for their warlocks and evokers and boomkins and healers. Then they want a DH to buff 5% magic damage further. Then they get a druid to buff 3% vers.

Then for melee you get a WindWalker for 5% phy damage buff, Warrior for shout, Enhancement for Windfury.

This is how you build a raid team roster.

But for the sake of useless argument on the WoW forums let me address each of these. Some of them are laughable

Everything you listed is not talented, or not useful in raids, or has a better option who can provide it. Selecting one of these talents would mean a major loss in output or mobility for elemental.

Bloodlust OG? who cares about the visual / effect - no one cares, probably don’t even notice which “kind” of lust was used. (this one is a facepalm)

Tremor totem? When was that needed in any DF raid? - no elemental build takes it.

Healing Stream Totem? not worth the GCD. No RL is going to bring elemental shaman for this.

Stoneskin totem - elemental never takes this not M+ or Raid
Remove all poisons totem - elemental never takes this not M+ or Raid
Earth Shield - no current meta build takes this not even m+.
Pocket Tank Pet? can maybe save a dungeon run not useful for raids.

Mana spring This is a good talent. But it is currently taken by enhancement shaman which also gives windfury to melee.

Dot like a warlock this one actually made me LOL. There is 1 DoT… “Flame Shock”
Its not even that potent. Mage has ignite. Warlock/priest/boomkin have more than 1 dot.

Purge/Spell steal ? Why is it better? It is literally the same effect, a magic buff is removed from the target, but mage gets the effect for a short duration. Priest and DH also bring purge, and other raid buffs.

Hope you get the picture

I do think it’s weird and lame that enhance gets WF, resto gets mana tide, and elemental gets nothing.

Some form of caster totem is surely needed.

I support the idea of give ele shamans a cool group/raid buff. Moving skyfury to ele tree would be awesome.

I still don’t understand why Blizzard removed so many group buffs and then act confused as to why certain classes are seen much more in organized content. I remember when elemental shamans brought a crit buff to groups and also had other totem effects going on. I’m not the biggest fan of having to rely on totems, but I miss having utility baked into the class.

There is ZERO reason to play elemental in raids outside of fights that play well into it’s damage niche. IE echo of neltharion.

or, ya know, if you just like the class. If you’re not hall of fame guild i really wouldnt worry aout trying to min-max the raid comp. Hell, people are getting HoF with disc priests right now and they are horrendous on M Sark.

Yeah I get it I totally agree with you, that you just play it if you like it.

Most mythic guilds would probably take you because 20man rosters are hard to fill. But given the option, they are probably going to be taking or advertising for a mage, boomkin, warlock. Sure they will take an ele shaman if DPS is great and there is nothing better.

But if you have 1 slot to fill for ranged DPS - and a mage and ele shaman apply, and DPS output is the same - you would be a fool if you did not take the mage.

I would agree that Elementals needs…something. But it would seem Blizzard is fine with Elemental being what it is currently. last season I was Enhance, and I played some Elemental. This season I went full Ele. The nerfs that hit Ele even before the 4 piece was available is questionable. The lack of any utilities and honestly defenses is another.

Ele shaman does not have any particular utility, but there are many minor versions of the utility of other specifications. So it seems like there’s a lot of utility for people who mostly play m+. However, it is evaluated as a spec with only useless utilities for players who mainly play raid.
Blizzard will have to eliminate some useless utilities and give them a big one to resolve the imbalance between m+ and raid.

I’ve been thinking if it’s right to get rid of many kinds of utility and put a big one in here, but Blizzard doesn’t take this seriously.
I think skill that increases the number of buttons without much meaning, such as slow totem, tremor totem, healing stream totem, earth shield, and lighting shield, should disappear or be pvp talent.

These useless and many utilities are also the reason why talent tree points have mostly utility skills. I think this needs to be adjusted, but it won’t be possible with this expansion pack. This is because most talent trees need to be changed.
Of course, there may be no adjustment. Blizzard hasn’t revised these comments at all for many expansion packs. And ele shaman is the least considered spec in the raid team aiming for WFK. Unless Eleshaman has a particularly strong DPS (of course this happens almost every five years, so don’t expect it), it’s not even considered.

The issue with shaman is that they can’t be op in any moment, if they are blizzard nerfs. Blizzard continues to remove abilities, survivability, personal buffs, and at times change something good for something no one asked for. As a caster, shaman lacks a nuke, a buff to LB-CL-Shocks, and a shield of some sort (one that grants immunity to dmg). Other casters shine over shamans since the game’s inception.

Some people don’t understand why we think its so important Shaman have some buff, just look at some of the replies here.

With that said, let me pose you this question: When is the last time you saw any raid team recruiting for Elemental Shaman? The answer is never.

They will be specifically recruiting for mages, warlocks, shadow priests, boomkins.
For melee they are recruiting for Enhancement Shaman, Ret Paladin, WW Monk, DH

All those classes offer raid buffs.

So shamans will only make it onto a mythic team if the group has all the buffs it wants and just needs any DPS to fill a roster. But most guilds or teams if you look at the recruitment message, you will NEVER EVER see Elemental Shaman being sought for recruitment. Hunters are in a similar situation.

Yes shamans have some “utility” but its really nothing special. Wind Walk Totem? Resto/Enhance can bring it but also bring other stuff like SLT/WF totem. Druid Roar is better (faster, shorter CD)

Stone Skin? Resto can bring it.
Lust? Mage can bring it.
Purge? Priest/Mage can bring it along with Power Infuse/Arcane Int

To me its just so obvious, and I feel bad for any Elemental Mains. This is why I am a resto main with flex elemental offspec, although I am trying to switch to enhance now.

If at least they were fun to play… But that lighting build is awful. The talent tree brought a lot of unecessary stuff in the rotation without any fix to Ele historical issues… Hope the shaman overhaul is there soon

God, I cannot take another tier of this godawful lightning crap with micro buffs.

Worst part about is I actually like the idea of Lightning spells way better than Lava/Fire or Ice spells, the way this lightning build is working though just isnt it for me, nor was it when it was popular in Uldir (was more ok with it in Nyalotha but I think there were options too).

Tuning aside, I am just not having nearly as much fun with Ele in DF S2. I wasnt even overly a fan of the Lavaburst build in DF S1 but I had a lot more fun with it. I know its hard to describe but if I could: On a scale of 1-10 — Lavaburst build was about an 8---- Lightning build is maybe a 3. Lighting certainly can do a lot, I just hate it to death.

I won’t be swapping or anything, as I just love Ele so much, I do consider though if I would have more fun on something else more lately. Again tuning aside, I just want Ele to have more options, a better playstyle, better animations (mainly for Lightning), and a more supportive playstyle. We have all of these tools for specific situations and I believe most of them could just be slapped on a choice node most of the time and put something else in that would be far more beneficial to a group, and I dont even mean just Ele just Shaman as a whole. Shaman initially seemed like the support role and its lost a lot of it, makes me wonder if Augvoker would fill the hole for me, even if I dislike Evoker overall.

Personally I love the lightning spec and I was even playing it in S1 over Fire.

But hey different strokes.

I just want to be wanted. I want the group to be stoked that im coming. Recently our mage had an emergency and had to leave in our mythic run. So RL whispers me and says I can play elemental (was on bench). Doesn’t feel good to be a last resort.

Willing to bet the RL still flipped a coin as to whether or not to pug a Mage lust bot or un-bench you :stuck_out_tongue:

Shaman (more-so ELE than ENH(WindFury) or Resto(SLink)) needs something to bring to the table. So far it brings a half-baked version of many core abilities that others can bring. Skyfury would be nice, or even some kind of raid buff.

I feel like back in WoD, classes brought a verity of raid buffs. Like, I remember Legacy of the Emperor existing, but not what it did.
I do remember multiple classes filling the raid buffing role though; so when they brought back raid buffs, they really needed to bring back the multi-class option. Or even give Shaman the ability to fill out any missing buffs. Like: Mark of the Elements. Provides (insert missing raid buff here) to the party
