Hey I’m a new wow playing starting at the end of MoP who has never played a shaman until classic and I really enjoy it I played enhancement until level 30 hoping and praying that 2H wind fury would be amazing and though it was nice in PvP during pve it was so inconsistent so I sold my gear bought intellect gear and re did my talents to elemental and have been facing so much more fun my question is why are there much less elemental shamans in classic their burst is crazy I’m just worried that once I hit max level I won’t get into any groups because of my spec.
Unless you find a pretty relaxed group to play with, you will primarily be healing in pve even as elemental.
Luckily, the 30/0/21 pvp spec is perfectly viable for pve raid healing. The only things you lose out on are healing wave talents (cast time and healing way), mana tide and 10% healing effectiveness.
I would recommend joining a guild with the intent to heal, speccing deep restoration for the first couple of raids until your group has the content under control and then attempting to raid as 30/0/21. This way you save money on respecs each week and can still roll into world content immediately between raid nights.
I think a lot of people are more open to the meme specs dpsing now rather than in vanilla
It won’t be a viable and you will do terrible dps but it can work if you get a group willing to bring u
Theres 8 billion dps players, 7 tanks and 38 healers. While these arent actual numbers per server, it does represent the overall disaparity between the three groups. In the end, guess what folks will look at you to do frequent enough that you might as well respec now?
Depends on what you want to do. Elemental is awesome in PvP and 5 man dungeons, lots of fun and highly recommended.
If you primarily want to raid, find a cool guild that is not obsessed with min-maxing. You can crank out good damage but will have challenges with your mana, spell hit, and nature spell resists. I raided Ele in vanilla and while not always optimal, it’s achievable with a little extra effort.
That said I always had a set of healing gear and was willing to switch up as the fights demanded.
Elemental is not NOT viable, but it will never reach DPS numbers that the no-lifers expect from DPS slots at 60, sorry.
That said, if you can manage to find people to PvP with who can keep people from getting in melee range with you, your Lighting WILL tear the enemy to SHREDS when used in conjunction with Purge spam.
30/0/21 is my end game. Once I hit 51 I went 21/0/21, and i feel like I am finally playing the Class I wanted.
For those that enjoy Enhance, great, but its not for me.
Well, you kind of answered your own question. Elemental shamans turn everyone into smoking boots in PvP, but fizzle out on mana too fast to be very efficient in raiding. I would advise a Restoration/Elemental talent spread in order to combine the best of both worlds.
Giant green guy shooting lightning out of his fingertips, slicing people up with his giant axe, while armored nearly as well as a warrior? Pure condensed awesomeness. Ultimately I went warrior because of its increased reliability and lack of a hassle in mana management.
Mana is/was the 1 issue to this point, but gear should fix it.
