Ele in tww beta feels like a completely different class
From a mobile caster to a stationary cast heavy caster but without a strong defensive or kiting tools or hard cc
I would like to see windspeaker’s lava resurgence back and up the instan lvb proc rate.

What spec and hero talent did you play? Volcanic surge plus talents should make Lightning a viable if not go to spec for pvp.
I agree Ele on the beta appears to cast more often but the defensives got better and kiting toolkit is still very strong. It’s really hard to kite most melee these days but Ele still has one of the best kits for it.

I was going to talk about the elemental shaman in player versus player battles. I think there may be a problem with how weak they are compared to other classes. They don’t do enough damage, their defense isn’t great. Farseer is the only viable option unless u like being a lightning turret as of right now ele is not even giving glass cannon.

It’s a big set of changes. Hard to tell how it will play out.
To me it looks like with the reduction in maelstrom generation across all generators they are going for less frequent, but harder hitting spenders (makes sense).
That, along with weaker overloads and no CDR on Pwave… I think the lava spam playstyle is dead, unless they save it with a new PvP talent.
The cast time reduction talent on lightning spells looks interesting though.

Volcanic Surge plus ES buff to reduce cast time, in theory, will make many lightning bolts very fast to cast.

Ele has received some monstrous nerfs, reducing the procs of lava surge and massively reducing maelstrom generation has essentially killed the “hurl meatballs” spec that has carried Elemental for 2 expansions now.
Blizzard clearing wants to move Elemental in the direction of more casting and more meaningful spenders. Which is fine in PvE, but is antithetical to PvP. Most viable PvP “casters” never really cast - there are too many interrupts, pseudo interrupts and you need to remain hyper-mobile. For Elemental’s new turret-y lightning design to work, it needs to hit ridiculously hard. Which just turns us into a worse Destro Warlock.
I don’t think Elemental is “dead” necessarily for PvP. But with long cast times for mediocre damage, I’m definitely worried about it.

Yeah. I loved how easy it was to just spam LvB, but it was a bit silly of a playstyle.
I like the idea of using lightning spells in PvP, just not sure how to make it work. I agree Ele can’t be stuck hard casting LB. That would not work.
I love the idea of big dam spenders. No tuning pass yet so I’m hoping for ES buffs. Maybe even additional PvP scaling like Chaos bolt gets. I love the idea of a sham with a full Maelstrom bar being real scary. In this setup LB is more about generating/setting up your burst then about damage.
Another option, with the removal of all the LvB talents, perhaps a volcanic surge rework. I don’t think it needs to nerf LvB anymore.
Something like, volcanic surge just reduce the cast time of LB and CL, and buffs damage. Get rid of the flame shock / LvB buff part. So you can still get LvB procs now but lightning spells are PvP viable.
Also perhaps a PvP buff to lava surge proc chance from 10% back to 20%.
A build where we have a bit less LvB procs (then DF) and they are more random (but still pretty high) and we need to supplement with some (but not too many) fast cast LB, building towards big boy spenders… That could be fun.

Already way over capped on pvp talents so that wouldn’t work. It should be a choice node again.

Yeah this change is absolutely devastating for the ele pvp playstyle. Being forced to stand and cast without the extra mobility is a death sentence. To everyone talking about Volcanic Surge, Ill bet you a thousand dollars it mega nerfed in pvp.

and so they killed the fun for me, even if its still viable, in a world where you can be interrupted so easily its just frustrating, it just dont work in pvp
I dont understand those nerfs, just make lava surge like it is in df and I think I would be fine
