Now that I have reviewed the ele talent build. I am not feeling as great about the changes as I hoped after reading the new spells and abilities. I.E Thunderstrike Ward. et al. Stormbringer synergy with rotation seems really clunky. I don’t have beta so won’t get an opp to test it out.
Lots of stuff buffing lightning which makes you feel your rotation is mostly nature based but the weird inner play with lava burst, icefury, or even frost shock feels like major bar filing spells.
Please move elemental unity under the choice node for storm/fire elemental. It doesn’t make much sense for it to be that far down the fire side of the tree if you are going for a lightning build. It would give that one extra point in not having to take echo of elements or icefury.
Not sure how I am feeling about icefury. Doesn’t feel like it would play well with a lightning build. It brings relevance to frost shocks but seems like it could be clunky rotation wise. Maybe if icefury was triggered from elemental blast or earthshock that would make more sense. Flux Melting, cool name but should buff earthshock/ele blast.
Ascendance is virtually useless with stormbringer hero talent other than the 25% haste buff. which 2 point for a 25% haste buff is ok i guess but rotation wise. when you have to choose between spaming lava burst (to max ROI) and lightning/tempest. sounds clunky.
The more and more I look at it. I am truly trying to make it work in my mind. Maybe I need to play it, but right now my hopes and dreams for a lightning build is decreasing. I really don’t want to have to manage Lightning bolt, Chain lightning, lava burst, flame shock, frost shock, tempest, Stormkeeper, earthquake, ele blast… its way to much. With the fire focus you occasionally cast lightning bolt or chain lightning but they aren’t as ingrained in the rotation as lava burst is for the lightning build. Fire specs makes the decisioning of what to press straight forward and intuitive. Lightning builds seem clunky. Do I press lava burst or lightning bolt? Well i have 2 stacks of lava burst so i should cast it right? wait tempest is proc’d press that, nope your stacked on maelstrom press ele blast or earthshock. But wait you presses lava burst so spend those frost shocks. Dude your flame shock uptime is terrible press it more often Note even without icefury its clunky.
I know, but Lightning rod. Awakening storms. It’s not just about spam casting lightning bolt/chain lightning, but about synergy and feeling the right button to click is a nature spell. Weave fire in there fine. ok I will concede, but at least make it an occasional press like lightning bolt is to the fire focus.
