I’ve heard that elemental shamans start to come online once they get some T3 / Naxx gear. Are they still considered a meme spec at this point, or can they be seriously considered for end-game raiding? What is the likelihood of a raiding guild taking one along?
Meme. I hope to just get away with sticking with a PvP spec and healing if I do Raids.
The thing with shamans is there damage is nature and bosses in aq40 and naxx are resistant to nature damage. Its possible but you have to really go all out and find a guild willing that late in raiding to take you.
Are you asking about the likely hood of a guild planning on a character comming online in 2 years almost? Why not just play Ele and tell people you bring the deeps and consumes to back that up?
Well you see no amount of consumes brings spell penetration, and there’s no warlock curse for nature damage as there is for fire, frost, shadow and even arcane. So half your spells if not more will be resisted, and if that wasn’t bad enough the warlock curse also increases damage by 10% for the above types of spells.
So you’re basically SOL until spell penetration starts being dropped which isn’t until phase 5 with AQ and by then the bosses have huge amounts of nature resists. Aka AQ40 and the naxx plague wing.
And that’s not including the possible mana issues if the boss lives longer then a minute and ahalf.
Have a PVP and PVE spec like the rest of us.
Unless the raid is desperate for more totems… they’re probably not going to want your elemental shaman. Enhancement shamans are actually in more demand thanks to being able to swing a nightfall. Elemental, along with balance, are probably the least used/worst talent trees in this game.
I would like to. The question is, how much deeps can I actually bring?
I think anyone going into a off spec would be able to understand that they arent the best in every situation or that they are going to have issues and may need to plan around that accordingly. Or i would hope that would be the case.
But that is an option the game gives you with talents and gear sets. As with many of the classes that are taken for there buff in some cases. If you are a credit to the raid there will be a spot in a 40 man raid. Good Shamans are always wanted
Incorrect on both accounts. Deep elemental is arguably the most popular shaman spec because it has great soloing/PvP and good raid healing. Balance is also very popular for the Moonglow healing spec.
In my opinion, the worst talent tree in the game is paladins prot tree.
Is that guy on something? Literally 99% of shamans will raiding as restoration. Most raids won’t even have an elemental shaman.
Please do not get disrespectful with me over game mechanics.
Deep elemental is a very popular shaman spec among PvPers and casual players. Put together, there’s probably more people in those two groups than there are dedicated raiders. Therefore, elemental is a very prominent spec and not “one of the least used” trees in the game.
Nothing bad about elemental in PVP.
A lot of guilds will take you as elemental, though probably none that will reach Naxx. And as elemental, you will likely be healing most of the time, because even specced as elemental, your healing will almost always be more valuable to the raid than your sub-par dps, and most mediocre raiding guilds struggle to find enough healers.
Ele/Resto is one of the top specs in the game, for PvP. Thats not the question though. For PvE, it IS a meme spec.
If you need gear from the final raid in the game in order to become viable, then you have never been viable.
Viability for dps is always determined by the ability to contribute meaningfully in progression raids. If you already have Naxx gear, there’s no more progression.
I’d love to see this tested against Spellhance Shaman. Elemental would win in a burst, but which would give better sustained?
Elemental shamans come online from the start. As for raiding guilds taking an ele shaman, you would do just fine as long as you realize that you are a hybrid and endgame raiding needs 7-13 healers depending on the fight. If your raiding guild realizes that you should be able to raid at minimum with 30 in ele unless your guild actually requires more mana tide totems. You’ll be fine as long as you realize that dps is a dime a dozen and healers are rarer.
I go as pvp spec all the time to mc and bwl. You can push the pace on trash and heal well enough on bosses or dps on certain fights.
lol…
wut?
