I just wanted to get peoples input on elemental shaman sat ratios (for raiding). I read the guides from Icy Veins and Wowhead which seem to lean more so towards versatility for single target/patchwork fights and crit for cleave. Storm Earth & Lava seems to weigh crit/haste/vers equaly for single target and crit wins for aoe.
My question is what do you guys feel is our best overall raid stat? Also, what would you say the ratios are between crit/haste/vers for raiding?
I looked at some of the top parsing ele shamans on warcraftlogs and they all seem to be running crit as the primary stat with haste/vers as secondary (with haste being picked over vers most of the time.
What works for you guys in terms of stat priority raid wise.
The correct answer is and will always be sim your gear.

Not trying to be mean or rude but the time it took you to make the post you could sim your gear and have all the info you need to include but not limited to:
Dps sim
Stat weights
Best gear combination
Best azerite combinations
Best essence combinations
Best corruption sets
Best upgrades and where to get them
Now to spitball you an answer; mastery is least a d depending on your individual stats crit/vers/haste will typically be 1,2,3 or 4 with intel being 3 or 4.
As mad said, simming is your best friend. If you have no idea what simming is, YouTube just became your 2nd best friend (it’s as easy as an addon and copy/paste). That being said:
Just avoid mastery and lean into crit, that’s about it. Crit also soars in value any time you run into an AoE encounter.
Stat ratios will be awkward this tier as well, as anything with a mildly good corruption will be worth equipping regardless of its secondary stats.
I love mastery and mastery was our best stat next to haste at the beginning of the xpac before they removed the high voltage talent that synergized with the unlimited power talent build. They also significantly increased LB and CL dmg which further decreased the value of mastery.
I think mastery does still have a place in a control lava pvp build where your overloads hit for the same as the original. I would go mastery/haste until my casts times were manageable then go mastery/versatility.
From a pure PVE standpoint mastery is just a shell of its former self. Though my last stat weights had it higher than intel for the first time.
Wouldn’t increased LB/CL damage make the mastery procs more worthwhile? Both can overload, as far as I know.
I didnt exactly aim for high mastery intentionally, it’s just kinda wound up at 40-50% with the gear I managed to get after hitting 120, but I have noticed the overloads going off super frequently now and it makes elemental feel much faster paced/stronger than it did before. It’s crazy when I’ve got flame shock up on 3 targets and I’m getting an instant lava burst every global cooldown, and each of those instant lava bursts is double-firing due to mastery procs lol.
Going a full mastery with IPx3 was a build I played prior to quitting. I enjoyed it, but for PvP it was more of sustained than burst, which is why its not popular. People remember LvB for burst, not sustained. I also ran IF with it, which was really nice. Tons of maelstrom for ES, but ES didnt hit as hard without Lava Shock.
You would think so. However our crit dmg in PVE is 200% for everyone except ele which is 250%. So if you increase normal dmg of LB and CL by 15% you are increasing the crit dmg as well. This is why LB crits can be harder/higher than LvB crits.
Versatility adds to this because it increases both normal and crit dmg.
Haste is also in high value because the faster you cast the more casts you get off and more chance for crits.
Mastery just gives an increased chance of a reduced dmg duplicate. It would be different if it also increased mastery dmg.
Mastery looks good visually because of the numbers and flashes. Over time it is actually a dps loss.
As a side note from pure observation. Crit became less valuable at around 22-25%. Versatility became less valuable at around 12-15%. However haste stayed the same for me unless I switched to a Visions SE/PE build then it skyrocketed to my top stat. This is why it is important to sim your gear.
Crit only increases the % chance to get a crit. Remember that pvp crit dmg is 150% for all classes except ele which is 175%. With blood of the enemy essence and skyfury totem that is increased to 220% crit dmg which is almost equal to the PVE amount of 250% for ele.
Most competitive eles are running vers with crit around 20-25% and the rest haste. If you run with a boomy you can actually go a little lower crit because moonchicken aura.
If you are running a triple Lavashock build with SoP talent you can put out some insane dmg. Wait for full boomy crit buff hits BotE with full maelstrom drop sky fury totem. Should have ~65-70 % crit a d 220%crit dmg. LvB>ES>sk(lb)>LvB>ES>sk(lb).
I run my raid set to include essences and azerite traits in PVP and have little issue. Granted I have been away from the rated scene for a long time.
Pretty sure we’re in the end-game stats now, where primary will be overshadowed by all secondaries now.
I’m a fair fan of a balanced array of secondary stats, which includes having some on the gear. I do however favor critical strike chance, even though the stat weights say I should favor haste and versatility more. Only reason I feel that I can ignore a bit of haste from gear directly is because of 2 stacks of overwhelming power and berzerking i feel like
Ele is like this at the beginning of xpacs as well. Secondary stats are huge for ele. This is why NH was and continues to be extremely strong.
Just an FYI sims calculate azerite traits as well when doing stat weights. If you a quick sim it will actually show you the value and break down of each dmg buff
I agree with this. It should be noted however that the 2nd LvB should only be used if it has been proc’d, otherwise immediately go into ES>SK(LB) for your PvP burst.
You can go any direction you want, haste versa, crit versa, balanced
A lot of Eu eles I’ve seen all in on versa > haste going to as low as 10% crit but idk, haste does nothing for lasso and your most reliable finisher is lasso if you want any solo kill potential
i feel like high crit/versa with haste from iris minor, totem mastery, and natural harmonies are enough since with combined you get 8-9% haste
I would love to have 33% crit for reliable shock dam
