Ele shaman needs a buff

Ele shamans are doing pitiful damage in ICC and being almost no raid utility. It’s pretty easy to see on Warcraft logs. There are 17 elemental shamans included on heroic LK kills. Other classes that offer utility, like moonkins, have ~200 players logged killing LK. Enhancement shamans have 88 players.

The obvious reason for our poor performance is simply our lack of ability to move and dps. Other classes have received buffs or quality of life improvements that have contributed quite a bit to their dps (rets, hunters, cats.). I think something as simple as the ability to “launch” a fire totem would help substantially since our searing totem only has a ~20 yard range. Or just buffing searing totem’s range would also be nice.

Please fix the state of my spec!

since you only want to look at 25m Heroic logs (there are 143 10m Heroic kills for ele sham)
there are only 12 MM hunter logs
12 assassination rogue logs
10 bear tank logs
2 prot warrior logs

and a grand total of zero logs for Arcane, Beast Mastery, Destruction, Frost mage, Subtlety and Arms. sure you can say Frost/Sub/Arms are pure pvp specs but the fact remains there are still no kills for them. so why does Ele need special treatment when there are 3 other “pve” specs that don’t even have logs for the fight? to put it into perspective, Arcane has 3 10H logs, Assassination has 6 10H logs, and hell even Frost mages has 1 10H log, yet Arms and Destro don’t even have a kill logged.

The difference on a lot of those specs is that they can switch to another more viable/better performing spec without needing to regear.

I think prot warrior is the only one you mentioned that would be required to regear.

This is giving me flash fowards to retail ele in raid

I like how “brings almost no utility” went from Warriors only having that HP shout and shattering throw to “my class has 7 raid buffs but they can all get applied by other classes except for this one that’s mandatory for all raids so it has ‘no utility’”.

In case anyone’s actually wondering, Ele Shaman brings:
STR and AGI buff
Heroism/Bloodlust (unique to Shaman)
Spell Power
Spell Crit
Spell Haste
Raid wide all crit
MP5

You could bring all 3 Hunter specs and have less than half the raid utility.

Raid buffs and utility are separate things. When I speak of utility I speak of misdirects, tricks, PI, UF, innervate, Brez, Soulstones.

But most raid buffs ele shamans bring are better covered by other classes.

You probably don’t even know why you don’t like Cata, the internet told you it was bad so you made your opinion.

Moonkins have even less mobility than ele shamans. Shamans have more utility than literally every other class in the game, including the most powerful of all utility spells (heroism/bloodlust).

Ele is performing exactly as expected. You knew what you were signing up for when you chose the class. If you want to do more damage and have more mobility, reroll fire mage and sacrifice all of your utility.

Most classes do all of those things better and in a 25 man raid it harldy matters

Its clear this no longer matters in classic

The spec is viable. If you enjoy playing it, keep doing so. If you don’t - reroll.

Y’all need to stop whining for buffs every day.

Lol one post telling me I have no idea what cata is like and another post telling me I knew what ele was going to be like in wrath. Am I clueless or clairvoyant?

But I’ll respond to both. I played the first and last phases of cata. I enjoyed the leveling and that was it.

And no one knew what ele shamans were going to be like in wrath. They were actually supposed to be much worse but luckily got a huge buff with fire elemental resetting. Also please see my previous post about raid buffs vs utility. Ele shamans only real utility is heroism and all 25mans that are serious about clearing content should already have a resto shaman to cover heroism. Our other minor utility is earthbind totem and tstorm knockback, but no fights in ICC can make use of the roots or knockback.

Cool so you signed up to play a class thinking you would be worse than you are currently - why do you need buffs then? You already got one. Stop whining, enjoy your unexpected good fortune.

All 25mans that are serious about clearing content are playing horde. So you don’t fall into that category and don’t have that issue. Looks like you have a guild that lets you play the spec you want, which is stronger than you anticipated and completely viable. Enjoy.

Like the original post stated, ret paladins got a buff while being completely viable already, same with hunters and cat druids. This is no longer “no changes” classic. I’m just asking for some small tuning to make elemental shamans dps comparable to other classes.

Yeah those buffs weren’t necessary either and should be rolled back soon now that we are in the last phase and gear scaling/tier bonuses are more than enough to compensate.

The hunter buff was for this phase, I have no idea why they’d roll it back when they just introduced it.

Because it wasn’t necessary to begin with considering the amount of arp on ICC gear. I have no idea why they are making balance changes in the first place.

Just so I can follow along with you, care to make a chart of each character and compare it to an elemental shaman in terms of utility?
