Either all of it is okay, or none of it is okay

Honestly I wish blizz would put better gear models up on the shop.

More detailed class and racial themed gear would be awesome since they cant seem to do it ingame except for Humans, Orcs and Bloodeleves.

OP makes no logical sense whatsoever. Just fancy nonsense to complain about some complainers.

This hardly matters in FF14. You can hop servers and play with whoever. Soon they will be letting us hop Datacenters too.

my issue with both is that having a paid subscription and they develop cooler better looking things, you then have to pay seperate for, yet the purposfully keep game items looking less cool

Which is why it’s really odd they put such a limitation in to begin with.

Why would I hop servers when I could play on the same server as my friends? You can’t let offworld friends share your personal houses as a guest, you can’t join FCs offworld or invite offworld players, you can’t access your retainers or mail offworld. Crossworld linkshells were not a thing, once. Last I knew, you can’t Eternal Bond offworld, either.

I’ll tell you right now, I’m not a Zenos fan. I do think he’s a boring villain. I’d take him over the abysmal Jailer any day and twice on Sunday. Wow’s worst is MUCH worse than FF’s worse.

I hope they do something good with him.

I just don’t understand why people are obsessed with hating WoW. A video game. It’s pixels. It shouldn’t control your life or make you harbor such intense negative emotions. All good things eventually come to an end and maybe WoW’s on that path after 17 years. I saw SO much vitriol directed at people who bought the new transmog and cat mount and I can only pity them–you know why I bought them? Because they make me smile. I like them. It’s my money and I’ll do what I want. Getting mad over this probably means their lives are sad and empty, which is why they rely on whining about everything to feel special or demand that pixels in a game should make them happy somehow. Anyway, no one’s making you people play and no one’s stopping you from leaving.

Same thing happened with TBCC and the mount/ hearthstone. It was sad, really.

People often deal with grief through unhealthy projection lol. It’s a shame, because there are so many good games out there I’m sure they’d enjoy.

Oh, god. Don’t you dare tell them they have viable options elsewhere. It’s like telling an addict to switch up their drug of choice.

I think the fanbase for FFXIV is fine with it because the store was there from the start.

And they were honest about what it is.

Blizz didn’t start their store until Wrath with the claim that it was for charity and then gradually brought in for profit.

People also aren’t happy with WoW or Blizzard. So that adds to the disdain.

That’s another case of subjectivity, but hey, at least we agree Zenos is horribly written. His little sidekick also suffers the same problem, so I’m not so sure they will be able to turn anything around without a lot of huge plotholes again.

I have three characters on one server. You get a discount on your sub if you have only one character on that server. And being that you only need one character to do everything, it’s nice little perk.

This is where SE is far less blatant than Blizzard…

The title here is akin to saying you’re only capable / allowed to think in black and white.

WoW is different because the quality of the in-game mounts is significantly worse than the store mounts.
WoW is different because the store mounts have in-game sources that would be appropriate and make sense.

I don’t know if this is also true in FF14. But just because it’s true for WoW doesn’t mean it is the same for other games.

microtransactions are bad on any game with sub and also in general diminish some in game achievements but there’s so many differences between these 2 games.

  • WoW is user friendly and easier with in game store / it’s also negative for some people that there’s a in game store.

  • Most of Cosmetics on FF14 are things that Blizzard blocks to limit periods like xmas sets, halloween…etc, almost all cosmetics are around summer, cultural clothes…etc FF14 doesn´t add sets that compete with their own job sets from what i saw on their store page.

  • Mounts have similar standard between in game and store on FF14, however they add recolors in store which is bad, in the other hand WoW had some really cool mounts in store and we’ve a lot of recolors in game, few are unique mounts.

just some points that i notice, I’m not a FF14 player, i just started the free trial and even being a free account i got some mounts from events that are really cool compared to events on WoW which mounts are tie to a really bad drop.

And everything is a matter of perspective, if the game and company has a good image, they can get away with some really nasty greedy sells.

The difference of acceptance and non-acceptance is game quality and director, that’s it. Ion is burning WoW to the ground under his views of what it should be, so when they add store mounts in a bad time, it makes things worse. But Yoshi-P is a legendary director who actually listens to players and creates a game FOR THE GAMERS, not “what he thinks an mmo should be” against his playerbase’s wishes, so microtransactions in FFXIV store are accepted due to being an actually good game with caring devs.

That being said, keep one thing in mind. We don’t know who runs wow’s store but in FFXIV, a separate person(some female employee, forget name) runs the FFXIV store - not Yoshi-P, he has no say in what goes in. That was the contract they made. Yoshi-P gets FULL control of development of FFXIV, and the female employee gets full control of marketing side store.

So it is a matter of if the person deems a game good or not despite FF14 and WoW being the same thing as paying monthly for Premium with a cash shop.

It’s still a cash shop at the end of the day.

Correct, it’s a common concept in just about anything. It’s called “brand loyalty” in which you want to continue buying and supporting said brand because it’s been nothing but amazing to you. Happens too with streamers, good streamers you love that are positive and make you laugh and interact with you(can think of a few) make you want to donate some amount of money, while toxic streamers or e-girls makes you not want to. It’s the level of service or content given out that dictates what makes you want to give your money to.

I dunno, I’ve seen some pretty toxic streamers get a lot of fans and such, almost in the same vein as good streamers.

I think the dislike is there too in FF14.
But having not played it and speaking only from a observational point of view. People mostly see the FF14 as a support for the dev team that seemingly listens to them and gives em lots in-game that are rather higher quality.

WoW has a horrible community, for the most part, and does things in store that is ‘sometimes’ much better than what is given in-game and the player base is mostly salty and want to watch the game burn - the developer relationship is poor and they don’t see that money going to anything good or of quality for the lot of 'em so they riot.

It’s not so black and white OP.

Do you really believe that other people belong to some imaginary hivemind where they hold all possible opinions at once, while you are immune to this and the only person who plays wow who is capable of forming your own opinions?
