@Efx (Spriest version)

Hey looking for some advice from a Rival Spriest. If you are not a rival Spriest in 2’s please refrain from offering advice as you literally have no idea what it’s like to fight in the rival bracket.

OK with that said I am wanting to gear my spriest up (ilvl 407 atm) and play some 2’s. My goals are to hit 1800 and hover in that range for the rest of my Spriest life. Please tell me:

  • What traits I must have
  • What talents I should run
  • What partners are viable (dps or heals)
  • How can I kill Warriors, DK’s, DH’s, Assassination Rogues, and WW Monks that stick to me like glue while their healer afk’s behind a pillar?

Anything I forgot to ask please feel free to add in as well. Any other RIVAL Spriests or people who have been dunked on by RIVAL Spriests are welcome to participate in this discussion as well. Thanks in advance for your help.

the other day when qing a new alt around this bracket in 2’s i qd into a spriest

my healer vocally laughed and said i needed 5 anyways

then literally left for the duration of 2 karmas and the time it took to get to the first one, and without running or getting off the spriest on a 415 ww i was still at 70% when my partner got back

the karmas were really just for fun to see how close i could get them to the druids bash not that they were important

if it means anything though it took like 9 minutes, 5 disperses, 10 fades, and a druid mana bar to actually kill

Going to pretend I didn’t read that.

first step is find a healer friend who won’t dodge you everytime you wanna q 2s

@rhomas aka dodger mcgee

“we can get 2400 2s easily” - rhomas legion season 4
“we’ll get 2400 2s this time for sure” - rhomas legion season 5
“we already play at 2400mmr, we can def get 2400cr”- rhomas legion season 6 (few wins away from 2200cr too btw)
“i promise we’ll get 2400cr in 2s before expac ends”-rhomas legion season 7
two BFA seasons later
“ya sorry about legion i was kinda eh hated game whatever anyways we can get 2s 2400 for sure this season” -rhomas bfa season 3, about 2 months ago

and to this day i still have yet to acquire even the 2.2k 2s achievement despite once playing at 2400mmr+, but it be like that some a lot of times

Death Throes and Shadowy Apparitions are your best traits. Crit and Haste are your stat priorities.

Shadowy Insight - Unless you think you can free cast and your partner will get tunneled the entire game, you can go Shadow Word: Void
Intangibility - Always
Misery - Always
Psychic Horror - Always unless you play with a Rogue and want to Mind Bomb off a stun for max CC
Shadow Crash - Almost always, you can go SWD for executes if you want to.
Lingering Insanity - I always run it, can go Mindbender if you’re having trouble staying in Void Form long for big stacks.
Legacy of the Void - Always.

I run Conflict so I always have Void Shift. After that I run, Origins, Greater Fade and you can choose Driven to Madness if you’re getting hit a lot, I also like Psyfiend when ik I can get it off. Mind Trauma is fun too.

2s - DPS: Destro/Rogue / Healer: Hpal/RDruid
3s - SPlay, Owlplay, RPS§, WW/SP.

Your #1 damage is going to be SWP, so make sure you’re getting that off all the time. A lot of SPriests will ge no damage off because they’re trying to get VT off the entire time. You can normally get 1 off before melee get to you, or at least fake a kick as they charge in.

I watched Talents get 1 VT off against MO on stream one night and they lost. Next game he didn’t even cast it and spammed SWP the entire time plus instant procs. Biggest thing is don’t get caught up trying to cast it. I’ve had games where I’ve done like 12k damage because I zoned in on VT casts that kept getting stopped and died from no pressure.

I’m working and sped that, so if I missed something, feel free to ask.

Good stuff. Yeah I was doing that trying to get VT off. Can feel impossible sometimes and you just do zero damage lol. Thanks this is good and will help a lot. Going to feel naked without Mindbender though.

Yeah, the best time to use either of those is at 10 stacks in VF because it benefits from haste. So it hits more and generates more Insanity from my understanding.

You’re also all about positioning. Constantly drag melee that want to sit on you away from their healer. It forces them off of you or for their healer to get out of position for a swap or easy CC.

This is also Anboni’s newest guide, really helpful seeing it rather than reading it:

Get the Leviathan’s Lure and Harbingers, although nobody does Crucible anymore. I could be wrong and those are no longer used but as far as I remember those 2 make about 15 or 20+% of all your dmg.

Well I’d never! Get that filthy talk out of my thread. You’re offending my priestly sensibilities.

Hpally variant reporting in

Lulwut. It’s just like the challenger bracket except people suck slightly less

this hurted… i feel for you

both are nerfed by like 50% as of a few weeks ago

lure is still decent, shivervenom is the new move

Yeah, I noticed that. I have a 435 socketed lure and just recently got my 445 shiver. The shiver is nice for a decent dot but I believe the stuff can be dispelled so it’s not like it has constant uptime; it’s worth for sure though. My lure hits for like a max of 20k now but again, still impactful occasionally. It’s nice for sustain. Also worth noting I don’t have much vers at all so, that would help.

This whole cut of death bs is super dumb though. It does more damage than their melee swings and can tick for upwards of 22k. Absolutely needs addressed.

Yeah, I don’t really PvE so I’ve never liked the trinkets. Typically when I do finally get them, they get nerfed. I like using Cyclo sometimes, it’s a nice stat stick for secondaries as well as the on use for it. I usually run that with Safeguard, or a Maledict if my teammates are using it. Maledict still seems useful if you coordinate it with teammates. Got a paladin’s bubble with it after he had got away and lined and couldn’t dispel/heal through it.

The fish wave off of Ashvane is a decent dot alongside burst for a 1 min cd.

Shivervenom is kinda pointless to me

I hear ya there. I enjoy all aspects of the game to an extent even though pvp is my favorite, so I do seek out those. I’ve used the mech trinket as well mainly because since you’re locked out of arcane if they kick you, I’m then free to clone spam. Otherwise they only try kicks on nature. Saves me from juking, I just make them choose between dmg or cc :stuck_out_tongue:

Makes it is absolutely still good. I know pika and them use it still. I’d assume as a spriest though you’d want more passive dmg since you’re already pretty tanky wouldn’t you? I mean you guys stack haste like I do.

Aight bro im boutta head out. S6 we were close to 2.2 but BM hunters and even then we were above a 80% w/l ratio, s5 I actually don’tt hink I promised 2.4, I’m pretty sure i played with you bc brandyn quit the game. S7 I had a total of 60 games before quitting and we were almost 2.2. And now vanilla is coming out. I also didn’t think rdruid was gonna be as boring as it was and idk what I expected but basically reason why I dodged so much is bc classes are super boring and htis game gives me 0 interests. But now vanilla is coming out so i’m going to be on that perma .

Also, Salt. I played my mage with you to 2.2 last ssn in 2’s. Then I played with Kush bc he wanted to attempt for glad. I did dodge a bit after 2300 on my mage tho tbf. I was gonna be playing with Kush toi get him his glad in ssn 1 but when he hit 2350~ he logged and never got back on until roughly mid s2~. So then I played with the Maxiqwarlock to about 2350 trying to help him get his 2.4 and then he just dissapeared as well.
