Edit Mode Not Usable On New Characters

So uh. We can’t use edit mode on freshly made (non-AR) characters? This seems kind of silly considering people might wish to level throughout the pre patch given the lack of content till November 15th.

Someone posted hours ago they weren’t able to change their layout till after they got out of Exile’s Reach and hopped on the boat with Jaina for BFA.

They did have tutorials on and did do the welcome to Stormwind quest (don’t remember the name of it, the one where you go to a few different locations)

I don’t remember the title of the thread, and someone wondered if turning of tutorials would allow you to change your UI.

Turned off tutorials immediately upon making the character. No dice. Still grayed out. Keep in mind as well, this isn’t me complaining. 10 levels isn’t a massive issue. The issue though is that for people with already established UI’s which can be made for the sake of accessibility as well as building around addons and such, this is an annoyance and an obvious step backward.

Not to mention, this is easily solved by simply preventing accounts flagged as Newcomers as ensuring they cannot use Edit Mode till 10. It just seems like a major oversight which should have been seen immediately.

This is definitely not good!!

Hopefully someone a Blizz sees this and does a bit of correction!

Not being able to change my layout will make me stop leveling characters through Exile’s Reach and go back to the original starting areas, as long as those locations aren’t under restrictions that is!

Gimme 10 minutes and I’ll check.

Alright, can confirm. If you don’t go through Exile’s Reach, you can use Edit Mode immediately.

This is definitely something Blizz needs to change about Exile’s Reach!

Noticed you cannot change edit mode while in Exiles Reach (tutorial starting zone for new characters). It was annoying and can only be allowed to use edit mode once you finish the island.

Not necessarily. Even before the UI change, you were locked out from certain game features while going through that scenario. It’s presumably to give brand new players a chance to get familiar with the basics before offering more options.

Which ones? The second you turned off tutorials, you had access to your entire interface as options and could adjust whatever you wanted.

Not to mention, as I said, a lot of the Edit Mode features double as accessibility features such as increasing the size of things, moving things like the chat box into more readable places, etc. It absolutely should be enabled for people on Exile’s Reach who have taken the time to create their own UI’s.

Please you could say

Fixed it for you.

I wasn’t able to use Edit Mode until I was in the prison in BFA

Exile’s Reach’s tutorial has already had issues that Blizzard seemed content to ignore. Setting aside how tedious the “learn how to press the 1 button ability for 5 minutes” quest is for players who have used a keyboard before, there were actual UI issues.

Every time I’d make a character, the mini map wouldn’t show up. I’d have to type in /reload just to have a mini map in Exile’s Reach even with tutorials off.

I’m betting this issue isn’t intended, but it’s hard to say with modern Blizzard.

This was my experience as well.

Looks like Edit Mode turns back on once you reach Kul Tiras through the Exile’s Reach storyline.

I think it is disabled on purpose due to the UI highlighting of buttons and spells in the tutorial.
