Edit: it’s kind of growing on me? Arcane feels ruined - likely swapping mains mid-season

See edit to subject line: doom levels dropping.

Months into the season, arcane felt fantastic. The rotation was smooth and intuitive.

Yesterday’s changes made the rotation feel clunky, and made spellslinger such a clear go-to that sunfury isn’t worth playing. And in dungeons, spellslinger is just a slot machine slinging orbs indiscriminately. Prio damage and a smooth rotation made SF arcane fun…all that is gone now. It was fun while it lasted, but it would have been nice if it had lasted a whole season.

Complete waste of customer time to rework the spec like this mid-season.

Yeah, they screwed us hard. I only liked playing mage too. I’m going to see if they can refund my 1 year sub that hasn’t been used yet. I think I’ve got enough from this expansion time to play other games.

Agree. Midseason change like this for Sunfury, is disrespectful of the player base time investment

Since the patch update I’ll go hit training dummies, get bummed out about my less damage, and then honestly feel guilty enough about it to not even queue for M+ because I feel like I’m not bringing enough damage now. I just sit in Dornogal for an hour and then log off for the night.

Same ! Nobody wants mage in groups anymore anyways so unless you do your own key, good luck ! It’s depressing. I’m giving it a week before I cancel my sub to see if they decide to fix it.

Finally got my spymasters from vault and was ready to do more competitive dps, then blizzard goes and ruins my spec.

One day into a a deserved nerf on a fotm spec and this is how you want to react. Throwing tantrums and threatening to quit.

Idc about the nerf…they butchered the rotation. I would be fine with 10% less damage if the spec still played the same. This is worse.

It’s not even the nerf realistically that people are upset about. They changed the way our core spec works, and the rotation is now much more a nuisance for it. The 10% nerfs to AB and Barrage were fine, but removing the double dipping, trying to add another proc to track to replace said double dipping, and killing off our preferred hero spec just makes the entire spec feel super clunky and unintuitive.

It’s a reasonable response to be unhappy with a rework that nobody (besides the devs) wanted.

Don’t be an idiot. They not only nerfed DPS, but also made the rotation way less fun, which is 100% a problem.

Presentation matters. I quit and nobody likes me because wowhead says spec bad helps no one.

Gonna try taking high voltage over eureka for keys to smooth out rotation, might help a lot to avoid having to wander into melee and arcane explosion.

I’ve been Spellslinger the whole expansion. It still feels pretty decent to me, but it does play differently from Sunfury. I feel sorry for you Sunfury mages who got a playstyle nerf.

100% was the most fun class I’ve played out of 8 of them so far this expansion! Was…

I’m always amazed at how much people struggle with the concept of liking how a spec feels when it comes to these discussions. Ran into this same back and forth way too many times in the past where I wonder if people even enjoy the stuff they play or its just about the numbers. Or they just feel personally slighted by high performing specs lol

DK mains proving they’re illiterate once again.

See the reason why Mages need the high numbers is because we bring nothing else to the table besides damage. The moment you nerf that is the moment we become utterly useless to bring. We don’t even have Soulstone to be more viable than warlocks now. Why not stack Ele Shams in your Mythics if everyone of them can do more damage than a mage, heal themselves if needed and brez the fallen.

What these morons doing the balancing did was pretty much gut any reason to bring a mage to anything.

its so much harder to get into groups this week

If these were well thought out posts, explaining that after atleast an hour or two of practice, getting used to new things and adjusting accordingly. But that is not what these responses are. These are knee reactions.

Can’t tell if trolling?

In raids mages bring arcane intellect, lots of mobility to deal with individual mechanics, and a high amount of defensives.

In m+ mages bring arcane intellect, a high number of defensives in order to survive the high amount of burst (especially as you get into higher keys), they have amazing mob control with several roots, slows, poly, multiple stops in DB/Supernova and Blast Wave, and a ranged kick. they also have alter time which is basically the lowest CD defensive in the game. they have a purge, a decurse, and mass barrier as a group defensive. There’s a reason mage is always meta.

Warlocks have healthstone, brez, gateway, purge, and a long CD kick. They’re absolutely are never getting invited if they aren’t top dps by a mile.

Right now mages aren’t topping overall dps meters in m+ but are still brought for their priority target damage and the plethora of reasons listed above lol
