This is a call for balance druids to make a big stank like the spriests did in order to get their spec fixed.
Blizz, eclipse has to go! Give us more nature spells like shrooms and swarms to play with (again). Bring empowerments back. Or do something with new moon et al. Just get rid of the alternating, clunky eclipse system while you do it.

I appreciate that you don’t like the “new” system for balance druids. I believe it will, in the long run, be a vast improvement over the BFA balance spec. One of my biggest complaints of BFA boomkin was the forced necessity to alternate spells to proc streaking stars. This became problematic when the spell queue timer (default to 400 ms) and the gcd were too close to each other. The change to eclipse wanting us to spam one builder repeatedly will eliminate a dps loss from this.
Obviously, lowering the spell queue helped to fix this as well (I usually run around 150 ms).
Personally, I don’t find the eclipse system to be clunky, especially in respect to the BFA empowerment system. Just remember to pool to 90+ AP so you can 3x starsurge as soon as you enter eclipse and then spam the corresponding builder and continue pooling to 90+ AP.
Well, if clunky isn’t the word, it’s surely boring and limiting. If they would let us use the same eclipse consecutively to choose what we want to be spamming at all times, that would be better. It’s just a really odd spec right now that does not feel so rewarding - though I like all the other changes.
It feels restricting and less fun overall… No longer feels like I’m playing some sort of jazz improv rhythm game with my keyboard. Feels as if im having to play something like Twinkle Twinkle little star over and over and over, just sometimes faster.

That’s such a good analogy for it! I didn’t mind jazz improve. Now with stellar drifting, it could be really fun.
And this will likely not be an issue because no azerite traits and no corruptions to push us over the edge or lock us in. We just don’t need eclipse as a solution.
No, empowerments should never come back. I know thinking is hard, but empowerments is the lowest form of gameplay and is horrifically boring. Wrath to 40, starsurge, wrath to 40, starsurge, repeat forever. No. Not good at all.
Empowerments were far more restrictive as you had no choice over what you can cast
I like this style of eclipse. Took me a few weeks to get used to it. (I spent time on the PTR getting used to it)
Time will tell if it stays or goes.
But to be honest, we won’t see any major tweeks for at least an expansion. Shadow priests had to wait 4 years to have void form moved to a cool down.
Under the old system-
Starsurge: any time you want as long as you have the Astral Power to do so.
Wrath/Starfire: any time you want as long as you have an empowerment charge.
Full Moon: any time the charge is available
With the Eclipse system -
Starsurge: inside of Eclipse and preferably at the start.
Starfire/Wrath: only during their respective Eclipse states.
Full Moon: only during Eclipse.
So in terms of being restrictive, I think Eclipse is the winner.
Play it now with Arcane Pulser and VoP essence major, its none stop bonkers lol. Fun yes, unpredictable 100%.
This is a temporary thing as those above systems go away but ohh its fun to see all those colors popping off right now.

I agree 100% - why on earth they even thought bringing it back was a good thing is beyond me. Same with the Paladin system. WTH??? LITERALLY NO ONE asked for it, but we have been asking for other classic races to be druids for LITERALLY the entire life of the game.
** Fun fact, humans are the only people IRL that can actually main druid (and shaman) class, yet have no representation in the game. Humans can’t even be shaman, yet another thing they can actually be IRL. /sarc
Maybe I’m not understanding the new eclipse fully, but this seems like the most uninteresting iteration of eclipse yet. And we’ve had many.
This I can get behind. I think most people are on the fence if they like Eclipse or not, but a simple QoL fix like this is more than enough to provide some betterment.
Honesty feel overwhelmed by it. There’s just too much going on to maintain the eclipse with 3 stacks of Starlord, trying to make sure sunfire and moonfire are constantly rolling but trying not to interfere with the wrath spam, and then hitting that 9th starsurge resetting the eclipses. And this is all before we have covenant and class abilities coming is SL. Every time I try to get into the groove of my rotation I feel like I’m doing something wrong, consistantly. It doesn’t feel good to play at all.
Why don’t they just make it so you empower the school you’re currently casting instead of the opposite? If I cast more solar I go into solar and get a benefit from it. Being forced to cast a certain spell really sucks.

Honestly, after making some flamboyant (and super sexy) Weak Auras to track the eclipses, and after messing around on a target dummy & some mobs with it for a couple hours…I kinda don’t mind it. I might even go so far as to say that I like it. It’s not BfA balance, and I miss that, but this feels like a different thing. It feels more like playing guitar hero or something lol.
I don’t think I would main a Boomkin if all I wanted to do was be a caster–I’d go frost mage for the fun procs rotation or something–but it’s a fun spec more or less, on a char that can do everything I like to do…and I like to heal, tank and dps, pve and pvp. So…yeah, I am not that upset about the eclipses now that I have a way to easily visually track them (which, the default UI for that is awful, granted).
…I’d much rather they tweak the numbers on feral really. My same druid pulls like 30% less dps (despite WAY more concentration) when he runs as kitty instead of boomie. Some of that is certainly a l2p issue, yes, but damn lol. I want to still like feral, but the amount of work vs reward makes it hard. Some folks lile.it enough to power through and do awesome things but…i may just gear up and occasionally wpvp or duel or do skirmishes on my feral, and stick to balance or resto for pve stuffs.
Exactly. Even this simple change would at least make it easier to track in your mind and give you more choice. Casting two slow starfires on a single target to ramp up feels bad.

I’m not sure why they don’t just make an off the GCD ability called “Eclipse” and then the next ability you cast triggers the eclipse that corresponds to it.
Starfire = Lunar
Wrath = Solar
Could still give them just general feel of eclipse if that’s what they want, but gets us there more quickly and feels a lot more engaging.
