Boomies have fallen down the food chain, no sympathy sought it’s the way of things, we had our moment. But players are always wanting to see a reduction in the delta of top to bottom.
I wonder if there might be a way to boost Boomy DPS a tad (not looking for top 5 here) & remove that silly feeling of casting Starfire in ST situations and Wrath in AoE situations.
- While 1 Moonfire is active, casting Starfire during Lunar Eclipse causes Moonfire to pulse for XXX damage.
- While 2+ Sunfires are active, casting Wrath during Solar Eclipse causes all Sunfires to pulse for XXX damage.
Hope that came out right, made sense in my head…after 2 Scotches.
Not knocking your idea, I welcome new ideas, but that sounds vaguely familiar to how eclipses were in BfA.
Not entirely seeing as it runs off of Moonfire/Sunfire instead of Wrath/Starfire.
But the cleaving and extra damage was pretty much empowerments from BfA
I wouldn’t be against it completely if I’m being honest.
How about since they’re so keen on improving how many times you fire off Starsurge, make Starsurge cleave all adds that have Moonfire on them during Lunar Eclipses, and cleave all adds that have Sunfire during Solar Eclipses.
Granted it’s not going to get to be much because of how many times you actually do cast Starsurge…but it could be a start
I’d be happy if they just removed Eclipse. It was put in the game back in WotLK because we largely ignored Wrath in TBC. Instead of differentiating the two single-target spells better, they decided to force us to switch nukes periodically. It was annoying then and it’s even more annoying now because Starfire has since been reworked to a cleave.
If we have to play around Eclipse, we should have a way to enter back-to-back Solar or Lunar eclipses to play around the number of mobs. Our DPS would come up if we could choose the right Eclipse state for the number of mobs the majority of the time.

You would literally just skip to the proper Eclipse regardless. That type of spell would be rotational instead of a utility-esque effect.
I hear ya, I can see the connection you’re making. It was just one of those random thoughts during extended mx.
I know the devs have to be careful with buffs, but if Eclipse is sticking around, I’d like to shake that weird feeling of hitting the “wrong” button based on the situation (even if the math works out in the end).
I realize the Devs are mostly focused on next year though.

id be happy if they remove ASP and just go back to mop or wod boomy style, and go back to CA use to casting both sunfire/moonfire and maybe bringing back lunar shower, idk give us something other then builder spend stuff
They went all-in on build and spend for casters though. Mage is the only caster left without a power bar. Shaman has maelstrom, locks have shards, boomies have AP, and Spriest has insanity.
I’m not directly opposed to builder spender as a premise, but when Incarn in raid dumbs your rotation down to:
Maintain dots, Wrath > Wrath > Wrath > Wrath > Starsurge
And with pulsar and tier that cooldown is up for something like 60% of the fight or more, the spec becomes dull
Tier set and pulsar leggo helps with this. Wrath gives more AP during solar so you can build and then dump on SS an SF to get CA procs where you can then cast starfire while weaving in SS and keeping SF up along with your DoTs
