Hello,
I posted a full length post in the bug report forums, but other druids here may already know the answer.
Currently lunar and solar eclipse are reset when you cast Celestial Alignment, which seems wrong. They are not however reset if you enter Celestial Alignment via Primordial Arcanic Pulsar.
So if I enter lunar eclipse and cast 3 starsurges, my crit bonus on starfire goes from +20% to +38%, with the +6% on each. However if I then cast Celestial Alignment, my lunar eclipse is reset to 20%, even though I was still in my lunar eclipse. Celestial alignment says “celestial bodies align maintaining both eclipses…”, which to means that it should maintain any existing eclipses.
However, if I enter lunar eclipse and I have spent 210 astral power, I cast 3 starsurges, giving me the +38% crit, I then enter Celestial Alignment from my primordial arcanic pular. My lunar eclipse still has +38% crit, it is not reset back to 20% by entering Celestial Alignment in this way. I can use more starsurges and bump that crit up to 44%, 50% etc.
Anyone know why there eclipses are reset by the ability, but not by legendary?

They are reset via pulsar. It’s one of the main reasons it’s such a strong legendary, and the best one for m+. It allows you to manipulate a ton which eclipse you are in. Increases the skillcap by a lot, allows almost unlimited pre-planning around when is most ideal to proc it to be in optimal eclipse.
Nevok, you are missing what I’m saying. I’m not talking about the ability to go into a new eclipse after celestial alignment. Yes, that’s reset by celestial alignment, that’s got nothing to do with this conversation.
I am talking about chaining a lunar or solar eclipse into a celestial alignment. You can proc lunar by casting 2 wraths, throw 3 starsurges, which takes your lunar eclipse crit bonus to starfire from 20% to 38%. Before the timer on lunar runs out you can then go into celestial alignment. If you do it via primordial, your lunar eclipse bonus is maintained (e.g. 38%), but if you do it via the ability your lunar eclipse bonus is reset to 20% (despite the fact that your lunar eclipse never dropped).
Yeah you can’t do that. The way to stack the buffs is to extend CE, not use CE to extend eclipses.
That’s just how it works, so play around it and profit.
Celestial alignment via primordial extends the buffs.
Celestial alignment via the ability does not extend the buffs.
See the discrepancy?
Ah ok, good to know thx.
Makes sense though, as otherwise our ideal setup would be quite convoluted going from the optimal eclipse, to a pulsar proc, to CE and another pulsar proc to get buffs extended out like 59 seconds.
