Echos of Great Sundering in ST Rotation?

Hello everyone,

I was looking over warcraftlogs for bosses in Nathria and noticed that the most popular legendary for elemental was Echos of Great Sundering. I imagine it’s being used widely be Ele shamans as the world boss with Windspeaker’s Lava Resurgence isn’t available this week.

My question for those of you who used Echos of Great Sundering in raid, is it a part of your single-target rotation? Does the 175% bonus to EQ make it worthwhile casting over Earth Shock and particularly running MoTE - lining up Lavaburst before having enough to dump on either EQ or ES? (I am aware that you have to ES first to activate the 175% bonus for the next EQ)

Thanks,

Short answer is yes you’ll be using eotgs-buffed EQs in ST.

Grab a WA to track the uptime as it’s only 15 seconds and can run out if you don’t plan movement properly on some of the fights.

Yes it is definitely used in single target. It is really annoying how this is the best legendary available to ele shaman’s while most other classes already have their BIS.

You have to completely change your rotation around this (which also makes no sense) but it is a dps boost. The first thing is unless you are spec’d icefury, do not cast earth shock until you are maelstrom capped. If you cast earth shock right away, you will need to spam maelstrom generators and still probably won’t get enough to cast earthquake. If you are spec’d icefury, you get more leniency here as frost shocks become a very quick way to get enough maelstrom for earthquake.

Yeah it’s really frustrating to use. The 15 sec buff duration means there are times when you can’t even take advantage of it (between M+ packs, phase transitions, etc.). The buff should really last much longer.
