I used to get these from emissaries is that not a thing anymore ?
You should be getting 250 from emissaries. They don’t show in the rewards, but you receive them when turning it in.

Can we no longer get them on characters that don’t have the cloak ?
No you cannot.
No,they have to get the cloak to earn them now.
We no longer can get them on characters without the cloak. They are holding our essences ransom to try to force us to get the cloak on all our low ilvl alts.
I have stopped playing BfA content because being blackmailed doesn’t make me want to play nice.

Ransom — that’s new. Blizzard made a lot of dumb choices with this latest update. Tying the cloak to collecting echoes is among them.
When they gave us what turned out to be a 16 hour advance warning that in the indefinite future something would happen, I had been planning on getting the cloak on 2 characters that very night, and later in the week getting the cloak on my other characters whose ilvls had increased into what I would consider a comfortable zone. Instead I stayed up until dawn completing emissaries and spending all the echoes I had on essences.
I had 2 characters that ended with 450 essences. For one of these, the purchase would have been her first essence. Now she will have none.
I’m just going to be farming gold in old content for the remainder of the expansion. Or maybe get Angler’s rep on all my characters so when they disable mount equipment they can still use the fishing raft.
I had been hoping to do some PvP after getting cloaks on my characters, but seeing this essence vendor has just destroyed randoms, it’s not going to happen.

Yeah I was doing some emissaries on my warrior after 120 and was kinda upset I didn’t get the echoes. 3 emissaries worth of echoes gone that I wont see.
