Echo spell

This spell is so cool and unique, why limiting it to preservation? It should be what defines evokers, not only the empower spells.
Imagine if you had a similar spell that you could cast on foes? That would be game changing.
Just an idea

I am heartbroken that they are about to change how I have played Preservation Evoker since early beta by making Echo not duplicate the spell if you cast it after the spell (because it only duplicates on contact, not during travel time of the animation).

Yes something like this, but echo would be what it is : replicates only the next spell cast on this target, and cost 2 ressources but no cd.

I am also super heartbroken about that. It was a lot of fun

I really really hope they buff preservation in pvp to compensate for this. Echoing certain spells as they travel is the only way to keep up with the insane burst dps are doing in arena right now.

The only spell it really affects is Living Flame, which honestly is never used in PvP anyways.

Edit: I guess Spirit Bloom too, so I get that.

I honestly don’t get this change – it feels like someone other than the original designer of Echo who didn’t understand the design made this “fix”.

Someone had to point out to me early on that Living Flame had a travel time and that this allowed the Echo interaction to work. When I saw that Emerald Blossom had a 2 second delay on its healing pulse, I went “oh this must all be so that Echo can be cast after, what a great idea, so cooooool”

Nah, apparently it is a “bug”. Sad times.

It really is kinda clear it wasn’t intended.

Echo is consumed when the heal finished cast. The fact it procs when the projectile hits is just weird. Great but weird.

Are you sure? On the same class they designed an Echo spell, they gave their filler heal a travel time (which is very rare), and they gave their AOE spender a delay, which suspiciously fits an instant cast like Echo.

It seems to me that this was the original, purposeful design, and they’re backing out of it.

probably deemed it as too complex an interaction and decide to remove it… like every other fun, complicated game mechanic interactions

to be fair, what is intended is being shuffled around the board a bit. Why give us a shield spell if they want to lean away from presoaking, Why make the TA change to 15seconds up from 6 if they dont want us to spam what seems like Living flame as a filler… It is going to save mana, but honestly it just feels bad.

Echo is basically wasted when a living flame is used on it instead of a reversion. Reversion with 2 and 4 piece lets you get more Essence bursts out. Which is fine for living flame casting, but when you have 2 stacks and 18+ Reversions out you kinda refill your stacks asap. So you gotta either pick between waiting for essence to respawn for the proc, Waste a Living flame on the attackable creature, or burn the active echoes.

I think they kinda dropped the ball on what the change SHOULD of been by making it not just a frontal but making it an locational effect. With the TA change currently, we feel like Resto Druids, with less spells. 0 reason not to play resto.

Also the change they could do to Echo to make it more friendly for the game style is to make it cost 1 Essence, 2 sucks, with changes you will be basically 100% required to pick up the 6 essence talent over the Temporal Essence burst which is much better.
