Im probably late to the party but for anyone who hasnt figured it out, I just happened to try it and it works at getting you to ToT quick to run something other than LFR version.
Hop into the LFR ToT as per normal, then use the Sunreaver Beacon (Horde) or Alliance equivalent (cant remember the name off hand).
Puts you back over into your camp so you do have to run back to the entrance on normal or heroic, but you dont end up having to cross half of pandaria to get there.
Just FYI for farmers who hadnt accidently figured it out like I did…or knew about it all along.

I had my characters set their hearth to the Isle of Thunder until I got all the mounts.
