Easy to Learn Ranged DPS

I want to start a non-Hunter Ranged DPS class/spec that is easy to learn without a complex rotation. My primary focus will be PVE raiding with some M+. I don’t care about being the meta top DPS, but I don’t want to be a gimp either.

Any suggestions?

So Mage, Lock or Ele Shaman?
I say Ele shaman so you can heal or melee later if needed. Ice Mage I think pretty easy beside squishy of the three. But portals. Lock have tank pet and cookies.

Arcane mage is mostly arcane blasts and missles, maybe barrage here or there

Probably the most simplest spec

But you’ll eventually want BM hunter play style again, your whole rotation can be done while moving is a casters best dream

frost mage while its all about icelance.

cant be much simpler.

if it eventually becomes worthwhile to pick up ebonbolt/glacial spike/comet storm it could get complicated but it’s really basic right now.

*talking about pve. the pvp build is already a bit trickier.

Destro lock is a good choice.

MM Hunter would be my vote.

Perhaps the most simplistic ranged DPS in my eyes.

Mage (Frost in particular) is probably the easiest to get the hang of, but like most “easy” classes, doing it well is another thing.

Boomies really damn simple, but it gets changed every expansion.

Destro lock is pretty fun.

Frost has a low floor if you’re just looking for something to noodle around on. Arcane does as well.

Both have a pretty high ceiling when it comes to playing them optimally. Room to grow is always a good thing though. Gives you something to do.

Otherwise try BM or destro lock.

At least with a druid, you have several different options to go to if you change your mind.

You ought to see the DPS disparity between a good frost mage and a bad one. It’s kind of insane.

Frost is  though.

A really good one is in the middle of the pack because they’re doing CC and interrupts.

A really really good one is doing that AND doing good damage.

I love frost for all of the utility it brings. It’s crazy how many wipes you can stop and how much kiting you can do if you’re a good at it.

It’s a ton of fun in keys. I actually “tanked” a +10 as frost once in BFA when corruptions were a thing.

Yeah. Even when solo out in the world I have a lot of “Did I just survive that?” moments.

Went frost at level 34 (in the old system) and never regretted it.

I’d like to cast a vote for Shadow Priest. I just started playing mine again.

how is it for you? the few shadowpriests i know act like it’s the most difficult thing to play and requires a minimum of 150 iq

Well, I play with a lot of castsequence macros because I don’t worry about being competitive, so it’s not bad at all.

Destruction Warlock OP. The only thing that’s difficult about it is positioning since you have poor mobility. You also get the most dopamine hits on average because of its emphasis on getting sick, insane crits.

Arcane Mage has a relatively simple rotation but it has a high skill floor due to its emphasis on resource and cooldown management.

But the truth is that Hunter is still the easiest ranged class to be basically competent with.
