Are there any mounts that aren’t extremely hard to get with a 0.7 drop chance, but also aren’t so easy to get that everybody has them? I have the grey riding camel for example, which I guess is rare (?) but I got lucky and got it pretty easily. What are some good mounts for someone new to the game to try and get?
Go do Tol barad and farm th dailies there
You get a cool ghost wolf that’s pretty eye catching and pretty uncommon
the red horse in revendreth 7 day quest easy
the return to kara the drake 25% and with mecha hard mode 25% drop rate
the alpacas are 7 day quest also are on top of my head
then there are the gold mounts and marks of honor mounts

Run the Culling of Stratholme dungeon on heroic difficulty. Finish in a good time, and there’s a rare mob right before the last boss that will be there. Kill it, and you get a Bronze Drake mount. In current gear, it’s basically guaranteed to get it.
Also, the Obsidian Sanctum raid, underneath the Wyrmrest Temple in Northrend, if you kill the only boss in the raid without killing the three mini-bosses around him, you’ll get a guaranteed drake mount, as well. And it’s also similarly a breeze to get.
Depends on what you like. Best thing to do is scroll through the mount list to see what you like and then use wowhead to find out how to obtain it and what the drop chance is.
also the battle bear is a time limit also its a 90% drop rate the dungeon in the ghost lands
The amani battle bear? I got that and I wasn’t even farming for it. Didn’t even know it dropped in that dungeon.
Argent tournament mounts. I just started working toward the gray silvermoon hawkstrider. It must be painful because I never see them. I haven’t given the jousting a chance since utterly sucking at it in wrath so here goes.
Deathcharger’s Reins…If you use the service entrance you avoid the whole dungeon.
You can run it multiple times. I got the mount after 2 days of running it. You have the “so many instances in an hour” thing but I don’t think I ran into that problem though.
I made some gold off the drops etc.
There’s 2 mounts in there. One is heroic version?

The dungeon was changed so you have to use the service entrance to do the undead side to begin with anyway and there’s still mobs. Also if by gold you mean the 1 gold per run then lol.

There’s a crafteable green corehound. Not too many people use it but everyone will notice it.
Rares in Arathi and Dark Shore. Super easy to solo at level 60 and drop rates are…not…terrible. Also with Dark Shore empty these days, the frightened kodo is probably not too difficult.
Tillers faction in Pandaria is kinda fun and you get goat mounts.
Took me about 3 weeks doing that daily I think to get that mount back in WoD.
There’s also a nice drake or something, that would be another 3 weeks since you’re farming currency.

That tabard is super useful too. Ports you to TB, which isn’t a destination vacation spot, but jump through the portal and you have all the Cata portals right in front of you.

What I think is funny?
Mounts, theres like 500 of them.
Pets? Theres like 600 of them.
Hair Styles? Theres like 10-20 per race.
Hair Colors? Theres like 10-20 per race.
Shirts? Theres like 100 of them total.
What do all of these have in common? They are things players will pay money to change to feel more invested in their character, BUT…
The only thing that seems to be created is an oversaturated mount and pet platform when there is a lucrative market for these other customize options.
Its like… Buying a BMW and building ur own car. If I have 100 color options for the outside of the car and 5 options for the interior of the car, you can BEST believe that company is going to create more interior options for that car. THIS company continues to make more exterior options, even if its saturated and the player base continues to ask for other options.
