Easy fix for fire mage's crit scaling

Fire mages have a base crit of x% that cannot be increased.

Critical strike now increases the critical strike multiplier instead of the critical strike chance.

Sounds like you just broke it more.

Why do you think that?

It wouldn’t fix the issue Fire Mages have outside of Combustion, plus, what percentage do you give them? 30%, 50%. One would either let them crit too much while the other still give them the feast or famine issue.

Though. If Ignite was just a flat damage you can build to, similar to Frosts mastery, that could fix a good bit of their issue. CD’s or not, ignite would only do so much damage, could even make it so it procs on crits.

Example tooltip: Ignite- Passive- Your critical spells burn the target every 3 seconds for X% of your damage done up to ((0.1/100)*(mastery/100)) spellpower over 9 seconds.

Burst is no longer so bursty, and outside of burst, they only need to keep it going by just casting. They can scale more on all three stats equally as well.

I’m trying to understand how crit is an issue when we have combust, kindling, trinks, fire blast, and scorch @30%…

Except for the fact that crit multiplier would be even more busted.

A lot of noobs think it’s secondary scaling that makes fire mages crap early expansion and way overpowered at the end.

It’s not, it’s stuff that blizz add. Mecha wrists. Lucid dreams major. Corruption.

These all build on each other exponentially. The mecha wrists alone were something like the equivalent of 600 ilvl for fire, they were so broken.

It should give you some hints when anyone with a brain wouldn’t even bother with fire in 8.2.5 unless they had the mecha wrists and lucid dreams major. And then corruption with the mastery scaling or minute mage build.

The base spec is trash tier and feels disgusting to play. It needs a ton of stuff around it to work - stat scaling is the tip of the iceberg.
