Yeah, you level a character up and you have that character always, but with a class change somewhere in the middle. Not a negative. It definitely adds a lot more playtime required to hit level cap, but that just brings Death Knights in line with literally every other class in the game in that they must actually be leveled.
I can completely understand how people would prefer things to work the way they do now, but acting like it would “cost” you anything more than the time required to level your character is just incorrect.
And you still haven’t explained your statement if this “sacrificing the player base”, which is what I wanted to know originally.
That’s literally not at all how net negatives work. One choice being a net positive doesn’t mean that the other is a net negative.
Asking for every class to have to “pay their way” to level cap isn’t unreasonable. Having to level from 1 to 80 isn’t some new age idea.
This is the only thing about it that seems like it could be problematic for me. I’d guess this is ultimately why they didn’t do it.
I’m not sure if you haven’t picked up on this or not, but I quite like playing the game, and I don’t see any issue in a class not having an instant pass to level 55 (or really, 58).
Oh, I’m just enamored by the idea of having to “rebirth” a character as a Death Knight. I don’t think this would be any more effective of a method for curbing botting than a lot of other things out there.
Don’t take my excitement over the concept itself to mean that I think this is the best solution, or even one of them, for dealing with bots. I think it would help to a degree, but it’s definitely not the “fix” as suggested by the title.
It absolutely does because in our case, we start out with one choice and someone is discussing taking that away from us. Keeping the priest AND the dk is what we already have. Taking away the priest in order to play the dk would be a negative. I can’t spell it out any simpler than that.
so…the botters sacrifice that mage booster they made in classic 1-60 release. the cahr that probably makes only a barely passable living running ramps and slaves these days.
they’d do that lol. not like its making much money these days probably.
also if we are going immersion…dk’s are jsut dark paladins. not all races get paladins. we need some more paladin races. Night elf paladin has been a dream for a while since legion paladin order hall story. I’d take that.
I’d be on board with this idea. I sacrifice a hunter. and I get…dark ranger. a class I would like in retail. If classic team gives it up first…all I have to say is one word.
The “I’m not a bot” challenge can be varied in some pretty simple ways that would make it quite difficult for bot programs to continually try to solve.
Automated programs CAN defeat Captcha challenges, but it can require some extremely intricate design that the botters may not have the skills for.
not delete, CONVERT. as in the whole story line of the death knights having a past hence starting at the level they do. thats not sacrificing the player base, its sticking to the story line and it would have the added benefit of limiting the bots a bit.
honestly didnt expect the amount of pushback from a simple idea, this wasnt a complaint or a trolling post. jsut thought i could gnerate some interest or finding out some more ideas. but the amount of lazy people whining about “it would take so much time to…” blah blah blah… i stated it was simply an idea being tossed out not an argument to make it happen. absolute ridiculousness.
Make them level from 1. You get icy touch at level 2. Heart strike at level 10. That’s it, it should be at least as awful as levelling a feral druid was.
