This isn’t a bug or a Blizzard issue. This is raiders whining because not all of the best gear can be found in raids.
Well guess what…It’s been like this since 2004. Since WoW went live, there has been a LOT of gear found outside of raids that have been BiS. In 2004 some of that gear was tied to PvP, or dungeons, sometimes a world drop (though they were excedingly rare in vanilla). And so on and so forth throughout each expac.
Just because a person raids, does not automatically grant them a right to the best gear in the game. This is an MMO, there should be many paths to good gear.
There is nothing wrong with the current system, other than whiny raiders not wanting to do the content they need to do to be the best they can possibly be.
But if this were flipped you’d be upset right? A raid or die only expansion would lead to frustration and possibly a lot of unsubs. So it confuses me as to why this is okay but when it’s the other way around it’s all of a sudden a travesty.
I mean that’s kinda funny if you think it that way then.
Classic won’t save BFA but for sure it could save wow. But that doesn’t mean that BFA is doing well. Still before making an acessment on Classic we will have to wait. So for now, your guess is pretty wild and you have no proof or trend that helps you defend that argument. So there is really no point debating that as true. The twitch beta hype streams about Classic died pretty quick even if their top views were high.
And for me that’s a very hopeful/wishful thinking that there is that much people subbed just waiting for Classic.
I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with benthic gear and simulations and can’t stop talking about it.
I switched to my druid in 8.2 as soon as I unlocked flying and bought some benthic gear for it with my human hunter. I immediately dropped allllllll the benthic gear for mythic +10 and weekly chest gear. All I have left is my benthic shoulders on that druid. I cleared eternal palace on normal very easy, just a few wipes on Orgozoa and Azshara as we learned the mechanics. Then I cleared some heroic bosses as a guardian druid easily.
Then I cleared heroic eternal palace (except for ashvane cause groups always quit at her for some reason) and got AOTC last night. Again no benthic gear except for the shoulders. Very little experience in that raid and yet I could do it
Benthic gear is not needed. Calm down about the benthic gear. I havent done a sim since the end of Legion because it always just tells me what my pawn addon tells me instantly. You don’t need to sim and upgrade a full set of benthic gear to be a cool kid, just learn your class and do some mythic+ if you hate Nazjatar like me.
Yeah but you can end up with some gear that out sims 455 stuff. Hell there is right now crafted trinkets that outperform a lot of the trinkets in the game, just something you can buy for 6k gold. I would be more inclined to agree with you if we were returning to gearing structure of past times. As it stands now though, I am perfectly fine having gear that I obtained spending my time in the World of World of Warcraft being pretty great. And this coming from someone who primarily plays WoW for the purpose of raiding, someone who has championed and continues to champion the return of Master Loot, someone who desperately wants us to go back to the days of gear sets.
No. Not at all. I make my own fun in game. Over the years I was a hardcore PvPer, then a Raider. Now I call myself an economist, I enjoy farming and playing the AH. My enjoyment of WoW was never tied to the gear I had. I never cared about DPS numbers or HKs. The fun was the experience of the content, gear was secondary.
It seems you don’t know what pieces of benthic we are talking about. Frost Bracers with a socket, Crit boots with a socket, and Poen gloves with a socket are ALL better than 455 raid gear for almost every class. Also come on man, pawn addon? That hasn’t been accurate in forever.
But even then doing 10s is much more effort than having to do WQs. In my opinion World Quests have been boring and don’t really require any effort to complete them. I haven’t really found a single one to hold any kind of interest to me within BFA. If the World was more catered to rewarding players for exploration and completing WQs that are a little difficult then I’d be fine with it.
But as it stands the WQs aren’t hard at all and don’t require much effort. So it confuses me as to why in order to have the best chance at tackling one of the hardest difficulties is to go and do what I personally equate to simplistic tasks that don’t really require much effort.
If I can get AOTC without any of that junk, then what is the problem exactly? I don’t have a guild, I didn’t get boosted, I can switch to the druid and comment on this thread if people want to look at it. Benthic gear is not essential to anything. It’s a great catchup mechanic for people like me who wanted to switch to a new main in 8.2, but you don’t need it for mythic+, you don’t need it for pvp, and I didn’t need it at all for AOTC, so again, why are people so obsessed with the benthic gear? Just relax, Nazjatar is not the whole game, it will be obsolete as soon as the next raid opens in 8.3
Well your argument was interesting, until you had to put that awful bias that just ruined it. When you’re just moved by hate, well that is sad.
There are multiple path like m+/pvp, but there is a reason why Atiesh didn’t drop from random mobs in Classic or that Thunderfury wasn’t given once you ding 60. Because the best items deserve content of the appropriate difficulty. Should also note that since BC and up to what WoD? That hold to be true that raid gear was best in raid (unless we talk about magic resistance or cheesy strat) with items like tier sets and trinkets being way more op in raids.
There are a few outliers that you can get from the M+ cache, yes, but 95% of the items you get won’t be absolute BiS. Benthic on the other hand, is much easier to obtain, locked behind mindless dailies/wquests, and outsims any titanforged raid gear with a socket. I just can’t understand how you dislike m+ gear, but support benthic gear? Each to their own opinion I guess.
That isn’t the issue, you don’t need any BiS items to achieve AOTC and never have. That still doesn’t change the fact that these items are ABSOLUTE BiS, and are irreplaceable until the next raid. The shear fact that these items that come from mindless daily nazjatar content, is enough of an issue to complain about.
it feels like waaaaaay more people are complaining about their BiS benthic gear than there are mythic raiders who are going to get cutting edge on Azshara lol. Surely all these complainers can’t be mythic raiders can they?
I think you’re missing the point. I may be wrong though. But the issue that’s being discussed is that if you fully upgrade your Benthic pieces to 425, it outperforms 455 gear drops in raid. You don’t think that’s off at all?
