Easy Beginner Healer Class to play

I don’t want to highjack anyone’s recent posts but I was curious if there was a healer class that was easy and less forgiving as a player starting to heal.

I think you mean more forgiving, and in my opinion that would be holy priest. Nice AOE and single target heals, enough abilities to deal with any situation, mass dispel, etc. I think that’s the safest bet.

Druid currently. Or Evoker if you want a somewhat challenge.

Both have all around toolkits and neither struggle with AoE healing.

Disc is a strong next but it’s hard to master and play well. A lot of stress.

Mistweaver, Resto Sham, and Holy Pal all suffer from strong toolkits in one area while lacking in others. They’re viable but healing is going to be far more stressful.

Holy is the most straightforward, followed by Rdruid.

The high end meta revolves around Evoker and Rsham largely due to their damage output which isn’t something you should worry about while learning.

You can learn healing as either but they have less straightforward kits so you’ll have to spend time learning and memorizing many spell interactions and combos (and in Shaman’s case a large amount of optional utility spells) to play them at their full potential.

Disc plays like a dps/healer hybrid so have to have a decent grasp at both roles to be good at it and enjoy multitasking.

Hpal/MW are viable but their melee playstyle puts you in harms way so you’ll have to learn every mechanics while also learning to heal.

No healer is difficult to play.

If you want to know what’s your jam, then by golly you need to play them!

That said, Resto Druid is fun and easy, can never go wrong with a Druid healer.

Gonna cast my vote for holy priest, followed by resto sham. Very straightforward healing.

Rdruid isn’t too bad, but you need to be proactive (knowing fight timings, preparing ramp) to get the most out of it.

Oh no you don’t get to run off now.

What did you pick?

None of them.

People say holy priest but they are awful to play too.

Enjoy your 40 keybinds.

I’m giving resto Shaman a go, they have good dps as well and you can quest easily in resto

Good choice dude!

Resto Shaman are awesome!

Probably the smartest choice.

I know someone that binds all their main dps abilities to their main healing abilities and use shift modifier macros. Works good on shaman.

I don’t think you can narrow it down by “easiest.” The healers are different. Some are proactive (setting up heals before damage comes in) while others are reactive (heal after damage is taken). There are a few that fit in both of those categories. First you have to figure out which style is better for you. Once you do that, you can decide which healer within that sub category is most appealing to you.

Proactive Healers:
Resto Druid, Disc Priest, Mistweaver (Fistweaver build), Preservation Evoker (stasis build)

Reactive Healers:
Holy Priest, Resto Shaman, Mistweaver (caster build), Holy Paladin, Preservation Evoker (more green spell oriented)

I highly recommend starting one of every healer and leveling them from scratch. Learn each ability as you get it. Do this in dungeons or pvp. Open world leveling will teach you nothing about healing. In the end, the easiest one, is the one that you feel the most connected with and enjoy playing.

I’m actually going to disagree with the holy priest. I think that you’re going to have a lot easier time on shaman.

The dungeon healing priority is very simple, and now that cloudburst isn’t required, it simplifies the spec a lot.

Blood DK is the best.

I also vote holy priest. Plus mass dispell is just too good. And don’t forget power infusion !

Healing is trash now. One heal does like 6% of peoples hp. Play classic if you want to heal and feel good

I don’t follow resto shaman that much. We don’t use cloud burst anymore?

Cloudburst is certainly a viable option. However, it’s not like shadowlands where it’s absolutely required. Healing stream totem is a competitive option.

Holy Priest is the swiss army healer, they got something for every situation… except an interrupt.

Preservation evoker isn’t bad either, just takes a minute to figure out the desired interactions. Range takes some getting used to, though.
