Horde ques are usually anywhere from a minimum hour and a half to three hours currently. Alliance are usually five minutes and no more than ten. An easy fix would be mercenary mode but for horde only.
Games are usually over within 45 minutes if not around 30. Some people just genuinely like the massive 40v40 PVP and we won’t even go into the rep grind. As someone that plays both factions, the alliance AV experience is pretty bad and this would be a major boost to making it equal and allowing more people to enjoy it.

Nah, just switch the starting locations randomly and more alliance might start queuing.

Doubtful, it’s still a waste of time for alliance in terms of honor per hour.
Alliance only queue for it for Reputation.
The reality is Classic is a swap of Vanilla. Horde is the Carebear faction and the one most players are on. The hardcore players are alliance now.
Absolutely not. Why should horde be rewarded with AV wins and a short queue whenever they want it? Zug zug

an easier fix would be you re-rolling

idk how easy that would be, and obviously it would:
- complicate things for shaman
- mean Horde players (even on RP servers) have to be OK with that, in order to remain competitive while ranking
I’m not saying those problems are unsolvable, but they seem to me to be two relatively large downsides.
Being able to have either faction on either side of the map, and also the ability to have faction versus faction might be interesting. So, you could potentially have Horde vs Alliance where Alliance is at the South end, while Horde is at the North end. You could also have Horde vs Horde, if there are enough in queue to support that.
If there are changes to be discussed and potentially made, that is my personal preference.

actually, I think the Alliance needs Merc Mode more so we can finish quests and rep grinds.

They’re going to have to add Mercenary mode when TBC Classic launches anyways, might as well start now
And Alliance complaining about queuing with Horde, if Activision implemented it correctly, you wouldn’t have to. Example:
Consistent 100 Alliance and 1000 Horde queue for AV. 900 Horde goes hmm this queue sucks, I’m gonna go queue vs my own faction!
Now 100 Alliance queue into the 100 Horde that didn’t turn Mercenary mode on, and games are same Alliance v Horde as always, but the 900 Horde who turn it on get to actually play the game and not sit in queue. Don’t really see the down side here.
didnt they do something like that on private servers let horde and alliance fight on the same side?

i mite be going alliance in tbc so i can be pretty fly for a draenei.
Alliance would hate it because they would find out fast how ‘map advantage’ ain’t the big deal they make it out to be (at least not compared to a loser attitude). They should like it because with lots of Horde filling their team their win-rate would go up.

so after 15 years there is now a map advantage?
If you listen to the crying on the forums, supposedly. Of course to believe that you have to be in denial about the reason the starting cave was moved when it was moved, and you also have to have forgotten which faction won most AVs back in 1.12 (or jump through mental hoops to justify it).

I do.
The horde got to weasel their way out of their actions during phase 2, with xrealm bgs, and now you want merc mode.
Once TBC comes, their queues might go to 3-4 hours a BG.
Can’t wait
AV has never really been a great source of honor
If this was 1.5 or an AV that resembled 1.5 you would lose honor for being in it technically, and you’d wait all day for a 6 hour match.
On both factions most likely.
I’d be cool with that though
If you think Activision won’t add Mercenary mode when the forums are literally FLOODED with spam about BG queues, then you haven’t been paying attention. Gotta risk it for the biscuit (our subscriptions).
And as far as horde “weasling our of their actions during phase 2”, we were just as bad with running around killing lowbies and camping people. Sucks you were probably on an unbalanced server.
