Easiest ST class - rotation

Hello all,

Which class ranged or melee has the absolute easiest ST rotation? I am done juggling 5 CDs plus a rotation plus mechanics with Unholy DK.

Doesn’t paladin have like a 2 button macro?

You should try arcane mage, yup definitely, just trust me

Have you tried frost dk?

I’m regularly pressing like 6-8 abilities (not including significant CDs) juggling two 20 second buffs, and have a very structured 30 second wings window. Ret is much more complicated to play correctly now than ever before.

I dunno, depending on the spec the class has like upto 15 rotational abilities.

I think the answer is always Arcane Mage or DH in terms of fewest buttons.

Frost DK two hand obliterate is like 5-6 buttons.

I got 10 buttons

Frost mage mostly spams ice lance. And other abilities exist to proc ice lance. Though frost is pretty terrible overall

BM hunter. Pretty much press KC on ST, multi shot on cleave, then just watch your animals shred

that was the meta early SL until boneboi became meta and it was a lil bit less about the icelances and more about the 3min boneboi cd.

so they just came back to the full icelance meta? how original lol

DH has to be the only class that is so simple I can’t stand to play it, feels like 20% of my time playing Havoc I’m just sitting there auto-attacking and 80% of the time hitting whatever button isn’t grey.

Not really, there is a lot to keep track of, but we do have “easy mode” builds. Not gonna say beastmasters are the hardest class or anything, but since Legion we’ve had a fair bit of complexity.

Beastmaster being the brain dead spec is an old meme. Frenzy stacks are the main thing, granted, a lot of other abilities are just hit on cooldown.

That’s all melee classes

DH being the fewest buttons is kind of a meme now. They have one of the hardest rotations to do well imo. Mostly because you have to have like omnipotent situational awareness to be wooshing around with Fel Rush/Vengeful retreat when you’re not using them purely for utility.

Watch Jedith’s videos on DH builds – changed how I play my DH. I think it’s the hardest class to play now.

Like – Imagine trying to do any content in a cramped space where you can’t move around much, or like the first boss in Jade Temple where if you move poorly you can just flat out die lol. It’s a whole different kinda hard from everything else I’ve played.

I’d say the easiest specs I’ve played would be:
Fury, Feral, and Windwalker. They have really simple rotations, good mobility, good utility and Feral/Windwalker do pretty obscene damage even without gear. Also all 3 specs do pretty solid cleave and single target.

Assassination has a pretty fantastic rotation for Single Target, but you’re not really gonna get away from having lots of keybinds on a rogue. They have a ton of utility that needs to be keybound imo.

Ret has a pretty easy rotation, but bad mobility. They do have pretty good survivability compared to other specs though. Bubble/LoH/SoV/BoP/Freedom/Turbo Horse/WoG are all tools they can use to not die or cheese mechanics in a fight. Rotation really depends on how you spec. If you’re doing Seraphim/The Spender version of Wake of ashes I think the rotation kinda sucks/feels like it needs too much setup… but if you’re not doing that spec, it’s a pretty fluid rotation.

DK seemed pretty straight forward to me, Unholy is basically 3 buttons + cooldowns. Wasn’t really my vibe either, but it wasn’t hard to do.

I tend to like specs that are consistently strong without burning big CD’s every pull – so Fury/Feral/Windwalker tend to be my go-to for running keys.

Here’s my experience;

I played a Demon Hunter for most of SL, playing a Death Knight for season four. At the end of SL, I levelled one of everything to 60 to get an idea of what I’d want to play.

Class/specs with enjoyable play in my opinion:

  • Fury Warrior, has a good number of cooldowns but they are just press on CD and press two buttons regularly with a third every so often. The movement abilities are really nice.
  • Demonic Warlock, has a nice 123 feel for rotation, starts slow ramps up with imps and blasting with hand of guldan. I did some reading however and found that maybe at high end there is a lot of micro-management to get top DPS out of it.
  • Demon Hunter, my third choice after those two. I didn’t care for the always in motion play required (never in the same spot, always Fel Rushing).

Class/specs that I feel are terrible for how they play;

  • Retribution Paladin, it’s easy but there are too many buttons that require constant pressing and don’t form a rotation so much as waiting for short CDs. Survival was quite low, I was shocked at how little passive self-healing the spec has. I do not like building power, only to have to use it on an instant heal instead of damage.
  • Enhance (or any) Shaman… There’s not enough buttons in the world for this class… Too many niche abilities.

If you’re playing correctly in Mythics it gets fairly complicated.

BM Hunters are my mindless choice for days I want to just spam buttons without though.
The only thing it requires is watching Barbed Shot CD

pretty much. Blame talents that boost ice lance damage + swirling pools of damage that spawn directly under your feet so you always have to move and can’t cast even 1.4s spells
