Easiest specs for Mage Tower

Since I have nothing to do really the next 3 weeks until 10.1, I was thinking I could do mage tower for the cool book mount. Have never tried it even once.

What are the easiest specs for it? Any class.

For me it was WW monk, Fury and Arms, Bear, Frost Mage, Ret, HPal.

Bear might be able to be swapped with something else I don’t know, that one was just for the werebear.

I did them before DF so with the new talents trees it could be different:

Xylem - Arms Warrior
Agatha - Fury Warrior
Sigryn - Ret Paladin
Bloodtotem - WW Monk (most people say BM but I found the consistent monk kick easier than kicking with hunter trap)
Twins - MM Hunter
Healing one - Resto Shaman - hardest past is first stage, much easier after that
Tank one - I did Blood DK but prolly made it harder on myself then it needed to be. So prolly DH.

And tip for Ret Paladin if you do that one, there comes a point maybe 1.5 - 2 mins in where they overlap all three major abilities. The guides never mention this but best repentance the main one before that happens, just leave her cc’ed and burn the other two down.

Also for sure use the wowhead guides and depending on your skill level you may want to farm so of the old world trinkets and such to help out.

Best of luck.

for me fire mage

Arcane is fairly easy if you watch for the interrupts and frost can be easy if you know how to kite. think i downed the arcane one back in legion when i didn’t even know how to play arcane.

I would pick whatever class you are most comfortable with and try that out first.

I had my shaman and hunter knock out 6 of the 7 towers.

That said, I had a hard time with the healer tower as holy priest. Resto shaman and Holy pally had a much easier time. Surv hunter cheeses the Xylem challenge.

I’ll say Demon Hunter since you can ignore the infernal as you can just glide back down to the platform.

Next I’ll say warrior since you can charge / heroic leap if you get caught out by the Infernals and you can spell reflect the heal debuff Kruul does. Meaning you get healed from your attacks instead of Kruul getting healed from his. Phase 1 though…

It’s still fire mage. You can still slowly scorch Phoenix whittle Agatha down

I don’t remember about “recent”, but back in the day DK tank was one of the toughest for me.

I just remember mobility being a major issue and so the easiest tanks were the ones where you could move about easier (i.e. my kryptonite was getting distracted and yeeted off - so mobility gave me a a bit more time to react).

Fury warrior.

It’s not gonna be easy. Took me on and off about a year and a half between all my toons I’d take breaks for a few months then go at it again.

Healer challenge will be the roadblock if you aren’t familiar with healing (like myself). I purposely went after classes I was familiar with and also who had the best “kits” for the challenges.

I’ve done

BM hunter
MM hunter
WW monk
Guardian druid
Fire mage
Enh shaman
Resto shaman
Ret paladin
Havoc Dh
Fury war

Fury War.

Others have given their class tips already - I’ll say be on the lookout for any specific gear that could be a big help. IE - the first boss of Emerald Nightmare drops a seed trinket that does a LOT of damage on a very short CD. It can help you get through many add phases in a lot of fights. Since gear scales down, you can get the trinket on any difficulty, and the drop rate is pretty decent.

I remember it being quite handy on a few of them (tank challenge and Bloodtotem are a couple I remember). There are probably other trinkets that are really good too. I got my book back in SL, but it didn’t take me all that long.

Unholy Dk, Fury warrior, Fire mage, Ret pal (did mine pre rework) were extremely easy. 3 of those are the same challenge (Agatha or w.e)

BM Hunter, Vengeance DH, Frost Mage were the next easiest. VDH is the easiest of the tanks because if you get knocked you can just fly.

Havoc DH and Hpal were the hardest. These are finely tuned, long scenarios that small mistakes will brick the run. When you finally succeed it will be by the skin of your teeth.

My healer run I died, but I bopped the npc right before and he killed the boss lol. I’m not a healer ever so might be easiest for a healer main.

Havoc i was standing on a sliver of clean ground and it was like that every P3. The dps check there is extremely tight. Not sure if any of the new trinkets help cheese anything (grieftorch?)

For me it was arms, WW, fury, MM, ret, resto druid and I done guardian back when it was first released in SL, before the nerfs, when it was on nightmare difficulty, harder than it ever was in Legion (300+ attempts in SL), but I just had to have the werebear skin.

People say now you can do guardian in like 20 tries, but also during SL it was better as DH. It might be better to try as paladin, given how the fight I think paladin might be the way to go if you don’t care for the skin.

And for the healing one, I done resto druid because that is the healer I am best at, it was my main during SL which is why I could also do the guardian one. But if you know how to play any healer, it’s best to take what you are best at because that one requires some actual healing, and not just whatever is the strongest solo at that specific challenge.

Compared to how hard they were in the past and how easy they are now, I found when I done the guardian one in SL I NEEDED to have old trinkets, old enchants, old gems, double socket gear and all that, but when I done it about a month ago to get the rest done and finally get the mount, I found I could do some without even having enchants or lust, that’s how much easier it has become.

But you are right, depending on your skill you may still need to farm some gear. Best advice I could give is to just take what you are best at.

Like for the twins fight, I watched a guide and someone on frost narrating their own attempt was like “Oh after the first phase on the second guy I only got to 65%” and I’m like …what? Best I could was 80% with lust, potions, enchants and all my CD’s. But when I went in with MM I could do it in like 10 attempts, I found the AOE damage on MM much better and instead of using blizzard on the adds to slow them down and kite them I just burst the adds with my explosive shots and could focus ST on the mains dudes.

That and making a concussive shot focus macro meant when both where up for the last phase I didn’t even have to swap targets, just concussive shot every 4-5 seconds and continue my ST rotation while running around in circles. And an interrupt macro for the hand so I didn’t have to manually swap targets, just get in range, hit interrupt, kill it and swap back to the dude in the centre.
