My subscription lasts until the 8th so I figured that I’d use that time to level my 7th alt.
Just from playing as one, it seems that bm is the easiest and they’re pretty strong too but I thought I’d ask the community what they thought.
BM, easiest rotation, can solo about anything, and pet does most of the work.
Have to manage the pet AI, but that is the only real issue. Though you may find it also most boring.
Test each out first you may like one of the other specs more interest.

I like leveling as marksman at low levels 1-60ish. Can ususally 2-3 shot mobs.
I have been messing around with survival. Its fun. Different but fun.
BM is very easy. It’s my go to when I’m questing and only half paying attention.

What would you guys suggest for dungeons?
BM has great cleave, but if you don’t mind melee Survival is fun with butchery.
BM is pretty much the best at everything right now outside of high rated PvP.
BM is probably the best levelling spec in the game, being a ranged DPS with a pocket tank and high clumped AoE DPS.
After 50 120’s and 5 of those being hunter… Any of the specs are acceptable. Pet is mostly going to tank for you. Play which one you find fun. I don’t like melee SV and I typically gravitate towards the big numbers of MM and I want to play a ranged class. If I wanted a pet to do damage I’d play a Warlock and if I would want to be melee, I’d be any number of choices outside survival. BM requires probably the least button’s pushed per sec.
SV with buchery and a ferocity pet. Much better and faster than BM, which is about as interesting as a Booples post.

I got server first in WoD, Legion, and BFA. You do random battlegrounds sometimes. Please tell me more about how much you know about speed levelling.
BM is unquestionably the best spec. I wasn’t even going to trash-talk SV in this thread yet here you are being so petty that you can’t resist trying to sell SV here despite the fact that it’s so much worse than BM at levelling.
Butchery? Who gives a damn. A BM Hunter with Beast Cleave, Aspect of the Wild, and 3 Frenzy stacks is going to smoke any effort put up by an SV Hunter in AoE. This is why BM is one of the prime M+ specs while SV struggles to get into groups in the first place. And this applies to levelling too.
BM is a clumped cleave monster. Furthermore, all that cleave is pet damage. If you knew anything about how leech works for Hunters, you would know that your pet’s damage heals itself and not you, and vice versa. Beast Cleave is pet damage, meaning your pet’s healing intake actually scales with the amount of mobs its tanking. Butchery is player damage, meaning it does not heal your pet. Womp womp. BM therefore not only has a better toolkit for clumped AoE than SV but has vastly more durable pets and therefore can sustain much larger pulls than SV. That’s not even mentioning the issue of threat generation, or how in Warmode BM gets the extremely powerful Dire Beast: Hawk for AoE and Basilisk for ST.
Speaking of pulls, let’s address the elephant in the room. SV is a melee spec. It has a ranged ability that’s good for pulling, but no Multi-Shot or, more importantly, Barrage. You have to mount run through an area to aggro as much as possible while BM has that and the good old Misdirect + Barrage in a circle to pull everything combo. I guess it’s all good that SV can’t pull as much as fast as BM since we’ve already established BM can inherently handle more mobs at once than SV. SV has harpoon, but that doesn’t mean much when BM is a ranged spec that does not need to charge up to an enemy.
I really don’t see any advantage SV has over BM. BM has the necessary tools to pull and kill mobs faster and that makes all the difference in levelling. Any argument that SV is better is absurd. All power to those who find SV more fun; do whatever you want. But don’t come into threads asking what the best levelling spec is and tell people it’s SV. It isn’t.

SV is a much better leveling experience for sure. And not as monotanous as BM. Besides it’s melee! I mean who wants to just shoot a bow for 120 levels.

Blah blah, SV is the best ever, melee is God’s gift to class design, the usual tat.
Does the fact that the overwhelming majority of the class plays the ranged specs even slightly make you think that just maybe not everyone is as infatuated with melee combat as you are?
