Easiest healer to learn

So I have one of every class sitting at level 60 but i’ve only ever played the DPS version of each class. I’d like to pick up one healer just to try it out and maybe get some quicker Qs and I think playing one will help my overall pvp awareness / knowledge as well.

I’ve pretty much decided i only wanna play R druid or R sham. Considered Disc Priest as well but not as sold on it.

Which would be easier to learn out of R druid and R sham? My gut instinct tells me shaman but i’d like to hear from people who have tried both.

Rdruid is easier to play right now because of how strong its healing output and self survivability is.

However, shaman seems more fun rn because youre pretty much a dps hybrid with dwayne.

Neither one of those picks. Both are quite complex and subject to flopping really fast in inexperienced hands. Even though technically rdruid is a bit tankier as mentioned but you’re expected to do other stuff than just heal. Same with rsham and priest. You need to learn to HEAL before the other stuff comes along. Throwing stuff like clones, shears, purges, atonement in too soon is a bit rough in my opinion.

I’d recommend an HPal. It’s got a number of decent emergency buttons and the healing is straight forward.

The biggest things you need to learn:

1.) Positioning.
Positioning on a healer is a bit different than
dps

2.) Cooldown trading

This is huge. You have to learn how to trade your cds with enemy CDs. You don’t want to use big cds for medium CDs.

3.) Learning mana efficiency and your throughput

Sometimes you may just need an instant cast and a hard casted cheap heal like Holy Light/Heal/Wave as opposed to Flashes/Surges.

Hpal is basically this. It’s easily learned and always viable.

I have an Hpal, Hpriest, Rdruid, and MW.

Id say Hpal, then Hpriest are easiest.

MW’s kit is really straight forward but you gotta kite like a Druid, but without all the defensive options. Druid is relatively straight forward but has a bunch of junk you gotta remember exists.

I like Rdruid for BGs because of the utility but hate them for arena because I don’t find it fun to pillar hide and do nothing. There’s also feral affinity but that’s nothing I’ve dabbled in yet.

I’d highly suggest Priest, personally. Both Holy and Disc are viable, and cater to different playstyles so one is likely to suit you.

I would recommend rdruid. It has a big kit but you don’t actually need to use any of it to be effective. Just run around at 140% movement speed constantly while shape-shifting and throw hots at pillar from max range. And because of how hots work you can overheal a lot and not to have as quick a reaction time as most other healers at the cost of being mana inefficient.

RSham can get trained down if you’re not experienced or have partners that can peel. Disc priest is the most complete healer spec in game right now but is really bad in new hands because you don’t have the gear/skill to pump enough damage to have atonement build a momentum buffer and you end up just spamming inefficient heals and having nothing but two spell schools going for you.

Not sure if this is a true statement from trying all healers Rdruid is the hardest to master.
H priest, h pal is prob the easiest.

hpaladin isnt bad. I would say it’s a tossup between hpaladin or priest. priest has very strong defensives and shadow is stronger than its ever been.

yea hpriest and hpal are easier healers in general but with how the current meta is with healers youll have better success being bad at rdruid than good at hpal.

Easy to learn, hard to master? (highest potential, most cds and keybinds to manage)

Rdruid & Rsham

Easy to learn and easy to master? (Good potential, obvious design throughput, few buttons)

Hpal and Dpriest/Hpriest

Hpal I think by far is the easiest to pick up. The big immunity cd + wings playstyle does well in a fast pace cleave meta, especially at lower mmrs. They’re currently undertuned a bit and oom too fast due to past nerfs, but overall are a good 1st healer.

Rdruid is arguably the strongest healer currently, but I think they’re a noob trap. They’re a lot more proactive and tend to flop if too aggressive or caught outside of bear. They also have the most binds out of any healer. There’s just a lot more room for error even though the skill ceiling is probably the highest.

Edit: but to answer op, rsham. Easier to pick up than rdruid imo. Probably the best cleave healer atm and has a lot of comp options. A lot of instant healing. Dwayne is fun to use. My favorite part about rsham is the utility, mainly wind shear and grounding. Lot of ways to outplay with those abilities and avoid getting cc’d.

Don’t get me wrong, rdruid is meta rn and pretty fun to play. I just think it’s probably the hardest healer to learn overall, despite how strong they are.
