Earthquake

God this is the worst aoe spell in the game. With tanks having to kite understandably, and this being our top source of consistent aoe damage, it feels REAL BAD having dumped 2/3 earthquakes just for the mobs to be moved an inch out of it a moment later

Meanwhile dks do 10k aoe by existing

i’d be happy to lose the knock down for increased damage or a slow effect

I wish Enhancement had it as a talent instead of something like Stormkeeper. With a cooldown and cast time affected by MSW.

They should add it to our elemental like in torghast.

If they fed more of the AOE damage into our Chain Lightning and reduced Earthquake damage I would be on board.

Other option would be to frontload Earthquake so the bulk of the damage comes in the first 1-3s and it trickles off after. Would feel alot better when mobs are kited out of it.

Earthquake is a good theme and idea but just doesn’t quite feel right. It feels kinda weak without much impact and lackluster tbh. Give it fire damage cuz volcano and a 25% chance to afflict the targets with flameshock and that would work. I would also be happy with them just rolling the damage into chain lightning.

With how weak eq hits i would also big ok with them making the radius alot bigger.

Without the legendary I find earthquake pretty much useless. The dmg it does makes me want to cry while removing it from my bar

Yeah, Elemental AoE definitely needs a change. casting Chain Light feels very bad since the damage is so horrid, and the AoE tick of EQ doesn’t fit much with the core class dynamics.
Either more upfront damage, or make it a single bit hit with a secondary aftershock. Having the option of it spreading Flame shock would be awesome. I don’t care if they have to adjust #'s, but I love elemental until I have to do AoE on them.

Agree with most of what’s said here. Chain Lightning feels weak. Earthquake’s knockdown doesn’t feel very useful and I personally am tired of all of the “has a chance to” stuff that Elemental is plagued with. Not to mention the amount of ground AOEs and such that cause mobs to need to be moved - moved right out of Earthquake of course. Then there are places like Theater of Pain with a bunch of mobs that like to leap right out of them.

I also find needing to cast Earth Shock to AOE and Earthquake to single target (Echoes of Great Sundering) to feel kind of silly.

Would certainly approve of losing the Earthquake knockdown (make it a talent maybe) for either more damage, wider radius, or maybe even low tier slow.

EQ is one of the last non capped AoE spells. It suffers from many issues currently.

  1. Tanks pulling small packs.
  2. Tanks running small packs all over the map for no reason
  3. Low secondary stats. Once crit/haste/vers reach the 20% mark EQ dmg will dramatically increase. These same stats will also dramatically increase CL performance.

As people get geared and get more comfortable with dungeons there will be less erratic tank/healer behavior and things will smooth out.

Even in pugs I can predict tank behavior pretty well by the 3rd pull and have little issue with EQ placement afterward. You can also use your tools to your benefit. Cap totem and EB totem will help wrangle mobs and allow EQ uptime to be increased significantly.

There are still a ton of uncapped AOE abilities. https://www.wowhead.com/guides/shadowlands-target-capped-abilities-uncapped-capped-spells

It would be way more useful if EQ knocked down on initial placement. Of course it should not stun elite mobs.

I agree upfront damage with weak dot like a Survival hunter’s Wildfire bomb

great points above.

liquid magma totem is the worst aoe in game.

This is how it should work:
If mobs move out of Earthquake(s) they get a dot applied to them equal to the remaining damage of the Earthquakes.

They can even target cap it for all I care if they made that change.
