So what are your thoughts on the Earthen being an allied race? It definitely feels uninspired as we already got a dwarf reskin not that long ago, but I love Dark Iron Dwarves. Earthen just feels outright lazy since we already know they’re just going to be another reskin, but this time you can play as a Horde dwarf. There are so many other races that could’ve been implemented in their place.

Seems like the earthen are going to play a big role in the story, so rather than build them up story-wise and then release them as playable, Blizz is taking the reverse route. It’s possible they’ll be interesting enough in-story that, EVENTUALLY, they’ll be interesting enough to play. But I wouldn’t bet on it.
I had the thought recently that dwarven stoneform is both powerful and popular, yet only turns the character to stone for a few seconds. Earthen are stone all the time. While I’m not suggesting they become permanently immune to bleeds, poisons, and disease… imagine if they were. Now THAT would make them popular.

If they were a horde only race they would be fine.
But the alliance really doesnt need an identical copy of a race they have twice over.

Oh I’m just jesting. Part of me does feel bad for the devs who see this relentless yawn at something they’re probably working very hard on though.
What do I think about a third copy & paste dwarf variant?
Lazy, ugly, embarrassing, cheap looking, unnecessary; they should have been an customization option for the already existing dwarves.

It’s a bit early for thoughts. Once testing is here we’ll see all their customization options, and maybe some of their story. Till then, I’m indifferent.

Meh, since they’re just giant dwarves, they’ll just use the 20+ year old dwarf animations.
Thats still a lame race choice since its still copy paste number 3.
Just without anything to make it remotely different from the other 2. And neither faction gets anything new.

I mean, the Horde gets a new model, alongside the female human model in Dragonflight. The Alliance on the other hand gets nothing new.
It’s too late to change anything now, so we best get used to them. They were likely written pretty deep into the game by the announcement.
Focus groups are your friend. (Usually)
Pretty sure most would’ve preferred ogres to dwarves.
