I logged into my shaman today and noticed that Earth shield is now available to all shamans, what I dont get it is how this makes sense. I understand elemental (in a pinch they have enough of a mana pool to be able to toss the occassional heal or so if needed) but where does it make sense that Enhancement shamans would even think about getting it? why is this a thing.
My opinion on it is that maybe if they made it so it changes based on your spec. like for instance, enchancing your melee damage on enhance…or spell damage if your elemental. Idk, I just think allowing an obvious healing talent to be given to all classes…since it increases “your healing” on them probably isnt the wisest decision made to shamans this time around.
Hasn’t it been open to all shammy specs since the start of DF?
In regards to you notion about Ench having it: I think it makes sense. I’m a off-meta player myself so there would be times I wouldn’t mind being a more support based ench shaman. Also you can access a extra root with it in the pvp talents. If ench gets US. Which I believe they do.

It amplifies your self healing on top of being a nice fire and forget sustain tool in itself. Great for PvP for the sustain, but also nice in PvE as you can use it in down time to reduce the burden on your healer and waste less maelstrom on healing surges in situations that demand you heal to survive.
I literally just started playing my shammy again during DF after the last expansion ~ as I leveled up other characters first
You can throw it on the tank for some trickle healing or if you think the healer may struggle on certain tyrannical bosses like Hyrja, raging tempest or talixae you can put it on a squishy DPS in case you need to throw an emergency healing surge in PvE, and it’s ok for healing yourself in pvp
I run it with Elemental Orbit for M+. Don’t pit it on the tank, though, it gets eaten too quickly and as Enhancement your spellpower is too low for the healing to do anything. Instead I keep it on myself and another melee for the 25% healing boost whenever I throw out an emergency Chain Heal.

Its absolutely ok for the dps specs to get a few baseline healing abilities.

Earth shield makes sense, though I wish it had a duration instead of having stacks. Chain Heal doesn’t make sense though. They should put something so that you can skip it again.

I use it along with lightning shield thanks to the new talents. It’s nice to have a bit of self-healing that’s not spamming Healing Surge.
I think you’ll find you’re in the minority on this one lol. Why do you hate fun?
I like contributing to parties in other ways besides flashy numbers. Being able to throw Earth Shield on myself and another dps just for a little side healing is never bad. And with Elemental Orbit it’s really nice for questing in the world, having both Lightning Shield and Earth Shield.
It really makes me feel like a master of elements.
Also the boosted healing means if you do need to throw out a chain heal, it’s that much more oomphful.

Imagine ENHANCING your survivability…by placing a shield of earth around you. Problem solved.
