Just my own opinion. This story is refreshing. I got so tired of helping to restore The Aspects, and every dragon themed x, y and z. To finally get our void Xpac is exciting. We have a true villain out of the gate, and the zones coming together to stop the void is a damn good story.
Quests are quests, they are hard to add variants to them, you collect, kill and rescue. It’s nice to do something other than saving whelpings.
Anduins story is deep. He was controlled by the Jailor and killed people, he even goes as far as saying, “a part of me enjoyed it.” He’s damaged and will have to fight to get his light back.
The zones? Come on, you’re joking! Hallowfell is one of the best zones I’ve ever seen. Underground but lit via a crystal. It’s stunning. Azja with its caverns and dark, deep trenches is very well done.
This is going to be a good Xpac and you’re only touching the tip of the iceberg. In DF before any real content was added, we just restored 4 oathstones, that was it. Big deal.
i love this zone adn how it turns from golden days to void nights with empowering mobs that was hit with the void side. but i do wish that the swap is set on real time and not random even
its really funny how that works.
Quest objectives end up being the same kind of thing every expansion…go here, do that, turn it in.
But for some reason the aesthetics and personality of it makes all the difference in the world whether it is enjoyable or not.
Like the Mists farm. Ive literally run that stuff on multiple alts at once (not boxing, just leveling multiple characters separately)…and love it every time.
But I could be doing the EXACT same kind of questing in SL content and it would annoy the hell out of me, go figure…
Say if we had high tea with the pandaren, Id love it…but with those goofy socialite vampires it was making me want to bang my head on the desk here just doing it again and again. lol
Yeah… I’d agree that 2/10 is a fair assessment… This expansion just feels stale and old… Like doing Zereth Mortis… The quests are all well and good until they’re done and then it’s mind numbingly boring…
It’s the end of an era. I have to say I was hoping for a better story with all this talk about being more story focused. I was even expecting something along the likes of SWTOR interactive storytelling or close enough with vastly more dialog. Yet this community would riot and explode all over the forums if they had to sit through that too.
All in all, the story aspect feels a little childish perhaps at times. It isn’t really bad, but it’s kind of wonky too. Especially the whole ridiculous arrow flinging thing with Alleria vs Xal’atath. It’s also kinda slow and dragging out in parts.
There I was critical. Now oddly enough if they developed the side quests a bit more with a tad more going on, kinda dressed some more of that up, I would probably go as far as say that the local stories are some of the best I’ve ever experienced in the game. But they could use more work and perhaps even some voice work, custom music, and a cutscene here or there.
I also wasn’t too thrilled with the War Within campaign that I played through in beta. It’s okayish and developing the story some, but I was hoping for something better I guess.
What do you mean we saw all the people, the bug people, the zones, a billion quests, and all the dungeons and stuff man! We’ve seen already like 70% of everything they’ll add for 1 1/2 years!
I agree with like 90% of this im having fun but to call this baby a$$ talent tree dark ranger is insulting to their lore and what we have asked for for years
The story with Aundin as expected is just as lame and nonsense as i thought it would be
As much as i love dwarfs i dont want these things. Give me some defected ones from iron forge who dont like the leadership or something
bruh, you have seen, like, not even a fraction of the expansion and you’re writing it off?
not only that but it is the 1st in a trilogy, no s*** it ain’t gonna have everything day -3.
The story for Warcraft pretty much concluded after wotlk. That’s what people were interested in. They struck gold with legion to everyone’s surprise but since then it’s been like bad fan fiction.
War within isn’t bad but it suffers from there is not much new they can do. I like it more than dragon flight or shadowlands so far but they are really just continuing for the sake of continuing.
The problem is fans will hate it. They will hate everything and they always have to compare something to something else that happened. It’s hard to have a game people like in this day and age.
honestly i already dislike dwarves so i came in ready to hate these also, but i actually kind of like them. i didnt expect them to be like, titan robots, so that was interesting
