I want smaller ears for my nelves, more types of ears would be nice too!
They could do it, ear models are separate from the head model.
The alliance has 6.5 varieties of human, if you want small ears play a human.
those are round ears. We don’t do round ears. EVER
Isn’t that just for pre-WoD models? I remember reading in the Artcraft blogs that they made them part of the skeleton instead of tacking them on like Vanilla.
I’m sure they could just scale it either way. I can’t imagine it would be too difficult.
no they are still separate now, but they have their own animations like floppiness.
I’d like to see their eyebrows hidden when wearing helms. Very annoying to see them when wearing helms.
I don’t want super small ears, but i think nelf ears are too big. I want more types of ears too.
I’m not sure nelfs should get smaller ears: they’re known to have long ears that extend away towards the back instead of straight up dingo style like belfs. Just my opinion though.
I do think there should be different ear shapes and angles of protrusion for elves in general though.
Smaller eyebrows would be nice too.
Pretty cool idea.
Night elves are in between Trolls and Blood Elves in regards to evolution/devolution/adaptation (whichever you’d call it) yet the Night Elf women have the largest ears relative to their male counterparts.
It could be related to the matriarchal nature of the night elves where the women would be the warriors and need a key sense of hearing to be able to ensure they’re able to protect the tribe.
If elves were to have ear customisation, would only be fair to have it for other races also.
I want damaged and scarred ears.
it’s a carry over to tell them apart from humans in the RTS days. It probably won’t happen as Blizz likes bouncy bunny ears on elves. I personally have hated those ears since day one.
Eh, not really. Some components aren’t applicable/significant enough on some races to merit customization.
Orcish and Troll Tusks, for instance, could easily be customizable, but you wouldn’t bother on most other races.
I understand your opinion but I don’t agree with it.
It may not make as much of a difference comparative to us but a human male might still want smaller ears.
The example you’ve used in Tusks - would only be applicable to races that have them.
At the end of the day more customisation doesn’t hurt.
There’s a difference between that and vulpera ears?
As someone who who’s drawn his character with Dreadlord-like ears for years, I could honestly agree.
The reason why I used “tusks” was to highlight that every race has teeth there, but asking for customization on those teeth for every race would be wasteful.
Development time and resources aren’t infinite - if something isn’t significant enough to be worth the effort, better to invest that time into something that is.
Wasting the developers time on customizing human ears when human ears aren’t significant enough to justify customizing them would indeed “hurt” because that’s time that could have been spent adding more tattoos or hairstyles of jewelry or any number of more noticeable, significant features.
In short, it’s absolutely fine to allow races with significant ears to have ear customization while races without go without because not all ears are equal.
