Did they say anything about restoring the old dynamic weather systems in classic? It was quite nice having the weather change to rainstorms (etc.) occasionally.

Yea man im with you, the old weather created a great ambience. I think the night and day cycles were more noticeable too, nights were darker?

The weather we all know and love will be there in 1.12.
What is your source?
He may have a source. What I do know is that they are not recreating the art that existed in 1.12. That client version is the foundation. The weather appearance is part of the art.
I remember hearing that they tried to implement a weather system that displays the weather of your physical location in game.
Why wouldn’t it? They are recreating 1.12. Weather is a major part of it.
I believe the “Classic” option gives you the weather as best they can recreate it.
However, if its like the shadows, I’m not sure how good that is.
I remember when they first put rain in game, I jumped off the zepplin in tirisfal glades to find it raining - only adding to the gloomy atmosphere I loved about that area.
Weather was added in 1.10. That’s the source.

Weather may have been added then. But the Classic WoW client is the modern WoW client (which had weather, removed and then re-added).
So your answer doesn’t pertain to the modern WoW client, unfortunately.
I don’t think they’ve recreated weather effects of the original client. I hope they will be restored but it’s a new “generation” or iteration of weather in the client (like the nights) where they are much better than after Cata (when day/night and weather were removed) but not quite a “authentic” or close to Vanilla - esp. with regard to the weather. It had terrentials downpours - never recreated yet in the modern client that I’ve seen.
Well if the screenshots they showed us at the Blizzcon panel are any indication, they will restore them as close as the possibly can to what they were originally.
What is the minute:second of this in the Restoring History video? I just reviewed the video and didn’t see a screenshot of weather effects.
They didn’t review the weather effects, but they did show side by sides of them going above and beyond and making things look at authentic as possible. Why would the weather be any different?

I have faith that they will recreate the weather effects. The assets are mostly there, I am sure. It just will take some tweaking.
