Duskwood was so good

Why was this zone made so good, wish when blizz designed the game they made more zones like this.

I think the original designers described the Human starting zones (Elwyn, Westfall, Redridgr, Duskwood) as the template they wanted to use going forward. They spent a lot of time polishing the zones.

Personally, I hate those zones. Give me any other lower level zones. Especially the horde ones…those zones rock.

Duskwood is flawless. Interesting quests and stories, tons of XP. Need cloth? Skinning? Meat for cooking? It has it all. Herbs? Mining? Rare mobs? Even a quest for the Stockades. I love when I hit that quest level range.

As much as I like Duskwood, the Twilight Grove in the middle of the map is a bit of a nuisance.

It took archeology later on to make that place make sense, imo. or be less annoying. its good to find archeology crap, and that is about it lol.

Beyond that…it jsut seems to be a physical barrier to have to go across the map on the road to go up to NW side from SE lol…

Blizzard should have stayed on the dark and gritty path. WoW was so much more amazing that way.

Now we have cartoony faces and mascots.

Duskwood rocks. Did you know that originally they wanted to make the whole land super dark that you could only see things with a torch? Donno if torch were supposed to be an item slot or not, but that was one of the dope ideas that never made it to the actual game.

if only you didnt have to run to Abecrombie’s hut from Darkshire every other quest,

Are you ok?
here’s your hair.
here’s your food.
here’s your drink.
here’s your bones.
here’s your crate.
by the way what are you building?
oh. OOOH. Oh my. Oh no.

Blood elf starting zone bis

I must say I am very jealous that the Allies got such insanely good zones for level 1 to 30 while the horde zones while good are lacking the depth that the allies got.

I’ve tried to play Retail a few times over the last few years and last a couple minutes at most. I can’t stand the new art style.

And then you see literally flying pig mounts and other ridiculous things. Doesn’t feel like Warcraft at all.

yup, duskwood is pretty great :expressionless:

that adds to the mystique of the place :expressionless:

It’s a great place to gank lowbies too because if you gank in the middle the run back is long.

And people always on that road.

Horde zones were not finished when WoW released compared to alliance areas.

Sent hill is a close run to instead of running back and forth

A shockingly large amount of people don’t even think about this. It’s so much faster to take the flight to and from Sentinel Hill.

this is sarcasm?

I disagree Redridge is awful and duskwood is awful (both have a massive obstacle in the center of the map making the zone a PITA to traverse. and the starting zones are downright trite.

but then durotar isn’t much better having to run around waking up sleeping orcs without even the courtesy to be given a booterrang (anyone? eh? eh?)

the forsaken are the only race that start out dealing with real threats; the scourge and the scarlet crusade continue to be antagonists at max level, and in future expansions. Also undead are the best race for RP because they have lived a whole life (by definition!) that you can imagine before their story even begins.

Actually, we should be able to kill Abercrombie. Believe me I’ve tried!
