During the Q&A, did anyone ask anything about WoW Classic after Phase 6?

If so, could you tell me about it, please?

I can’t wait to see the video and resulting meme’s.

“You think you do, but you don’t”
“You guys have phones don’t you ?”

Comming soon from blizzcon 2019 - “there wasn’t enough interest in Classic, so we’ve abandoned the phase releases after phase 3”

TBC/WoTLK servers were asked about and they basically said they could do them and aren’t opposed to doing so, but they want to make sure it’s the right move.

My own opinion is they’re pretty much guaranteed to happen over classic plus content. About the only way they don’t happen is if classic has a massive drop off.

That seems to be the most likely thing to happen.

I don’t expect BC servers to come out for at least two years, tho.

Agreed. I think they are going to do it they just don’t want to announce it any time soon. Classic + is stupid because most people liked tbc more cuz their meme spec mattered suddenly. I think they’d be incredibly stupid to think it’s the wrong move… though they still seem surprised at how many people play classic so who knows…

I don’t think it’s any more complicated than the fact that rereleasing TBC is safer and easier/less time consuming than building new content for classic plus. The only way I’d argue differently is if they pulled TBC and WoTLK content to implement into classic, but I doubt they’ll go that route.

Blizzard gave a big hint on how they want to do old content: in Shadowlands you can talk to Chromie and level up in any expac through the caverns of time.

I am thinking Blizzard is going to eventually hook up Classic, TBC, Wrath, ETC into retail. You simply make a character and play what style you want. You could move your character to Shadowlands or play TBC for example.

Q: We love classic - will we get a BC or Wrath server?
A: It is possible, but we have to be really careful with how to proceed. We did not have changes in mind when we put classic out. Need to be super thoughtful - not everyone playing classic wants to play BC. We just want to do the right thing, we’re not opposed to it.

(from https://www.wowhead.com/news=296022/blizzcon-2019-world-of-warcraft-q-a-liveblog .)

I’m actually mildly alarmed that even though the question was unambiguously “a BC or Wrath server,” the answer doesn’t talk about separate servers.

Because that would be a massive community division and it would only get worse with wotlk. It’s either we all progress or none of us do.

You don’t work at Blizzard, so I don’t know why you’re trying to answer why they did something, much less with the same “no community division” line Wall of No players used to declare that there would never be Classic.

I want the xpacs as much as the next person. However, you are choosing to ignore how much it would fracture the community.

Again, you do realize you sound just like a retail Wall of No player, right?

“You can’t fracture the community! Make everyone play the version of the game I want!” has not suddenly become a respectable argument since Classic was announced.

…and again, what I said was entirely about Blizzard’s response on what they’re going to do, not your opinion on what they should do. I gather that if they poll the forum we’ll be on opposite sides; message received.

How would it “fracture the community” any more than having multiple servers?

90% of the playerbase would go to tbc. Now classic has to either merge into one server or die. I don’t think you understand how many people would progress into bc. You also have to consider who realms moving to tbc… but what if like 100 people don’t want to move from that server? What do they do? Why would they put all that work into making separate tbc servers when they can just progress classic to tbc?

It’s a dismal day when Ion has a good answer to your question.

Doesn’t mean they will do separate servers. That meant no tbc and i think you know it.

In regards to this quote, he’s right about people like this:

You see, they thought they could handle Azeroth without LFG (which is what he was talking about) or other QoL features. It may not be you nor me, but these people do exist.

All what work?

So, from my perspective, you haven’t answered the question at all. The argument of fracturing the community is baseless and ridiculous. We are not all on one single server, so it doesn’t matter.

Some people play Retail, and some people play Classic. A lot of people play both, and will play both. I don’t have numbers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers indicate that most people play both (of course, that’s a bit off topic).

In any case, you are really going to have to define precisely what you mean by fracturing the community, because it just sounds like a really, really silly argument that is making up some phrase for a fabricated situation that simply doesn’t exist.

You’re confused. Theyd have pay for all those new servers. Theyd have to copy or transfer over everyone’s characters. Just because you don’t understand doesn’t make it invalid.
