Durable Information Securing Container overrides Nitro Boosts

The Durable Information Securing Container is either useless to, or a death knell for Engineers, as it overrides our one remaining useful skill: tinkers, specifically Nitro Boosts.

What is the point of a belt that blocks our Engineer tinker which must be fitted to belts as an on-use spell?

At least make a change to the API so we can /cast it as a spell, and not baked in as an on-use for an item that is already in use with a key mechanic/item to the current XP… :frowning:

Came to say same. Please fix this.

This isn’t a bug and also isn’t the first time we’ve had a legendary/nonreplaceable item with an on use effect in a slot that engineering tinkers can go. Not being able to use nitro boosts for a patch cycle likely isn’t reason enough for blizzard to change how the belt operates, not that posting in bug report will do anything to influence that.

Disagree completely: I rely 100% on it for my Lock playstyle.

probably shouldn’t rely 100% on something that has a chance to fail

In this thread are a lot of people’s unhelpful opinions. I don’t understand the motivation behind throwing shade on folks who last week were able to use the item to this week where they cannot due to the way the new belt is designed… and rightfully would like a change so, at the very least, it can be macro’d. If you were in their position, I don’t think you’d like it.

Bug report isn’t the place to suggest changes. Suggestions here aren’t forwarded to the devs.

You think it’s a suggestion. They think it’s a bug. You’ve made your opinion clear.

It’s not. The belt has an on use effect, and is thus ineligible for engineering tinkers, full stop.

You can phrase it however you want it’s still your opinion, which you’ve posted already.

Calling the fact an opinion doesn’t make it any less true. It is quite literally how the game works and has always worked.

The belt was actually bugged a few days ago, where you could apply nitro boosts to the belt despite it having an on use and thus being an invalid target to apply tinkers to. Maybe that’s where a lot of this confusion came from? Regardless, that bug has since been fixed and now attempting to tinker the belt properly throws the error That item already has an activated ability.

18:37:11> Your [Nitro Boosts] failed. (That item already has an activated ability)

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s an absolutely massive oversight they should have seen coming considering how many players use Engineering JUST for the nitro boost both in PVE (I assume it’s a popular thing in PVP too, but that’s neither here nor there). There were a million and one better ways to do this like, I dunno, just having the console next to Dagran let us change things. Or add a spell to our books while the belt is equipped that works a la rogue poison/portals/DK rune forging/etc.

It’s a stupidly simple design flaw, and whoever worked on the belt that was in charge of the method for changing the powers should be ashamed. No excuse.

Bottom line, we can’t use nitro boost if we want the belt. Whatever the reason, however it’s designed just whatever, the bottom line is they took something away we like and I’m not happy about it.

100% works in PvE / dungeons / raids

Just looted the new waist and realized that it doesnt work with Nitro Boots.

This is kinda annoying for my lock. The speed is very handy especially in horrific visions.

Which is why I kept my previous belt in my inventory, for the times I judge I might want a burst of foot speed more than I need a situational crit buff.

Less than optimal when you want both at the same time, but that’s not going to happen.
