So my buddy drags me out of Wow retirement to play Wow. I can’t stand retail so we go play classic. He won’t stop complaining(my friend) that he should be x level given the amount of time he has put into his character. And I’m not gonna lie he’s not wrong we keep running out of quests to do because we can easily beat them and the quests themselves are clearly designed for Solo play up until that one group quest. So were getting like half monster kill xp and we’re blasting through quests and running out of things to do but xp grind on mobs. What is a good way to keep the xp going forward? Should we do other 1 to 10 zones just to be slightly over leveled? It’s just getting annoying. Like I remember the questing was dog crap in vanilla, but seriously I’m only level 10 and I don’t even want to log on anymore.
Double the players mean you should be killing double the mobs especially with something like simple kill quests.
You need to kill 10 boars? Y’all should be killing 20.
I’d say get a quest addon if you are having problems with knowing where to go, reason why retail has this, as well as message boards to help GUIDE a player on where to go. Might also want to start doing dungeons and look for there quests also.
Do quests together but not as a group. That way you kill 10 monsters and so does he. And you both get full xp.
We did the crag boar rib quest we must’ve killed like 80 boars. Trust me we have been killing along the way.
If you finish all the quests in an area, there should be one or two quests leading you to the next higher-level areas. I don’t see how you can “run out”.
Are you saying you’ve done all the quests, but aren’t high enough level to go on to the next area?
It’s possible. I have the addon questie, but I keep seeing a ton of question Mark’s, but no quests.
Yes you should go to other zones for the same level range. Even if you solo play you run out of quests (unless you do dungeons). So go back and forth between zones that are “meant for different race”
Then don’t. Problem solved.
Yeah we should do that. Maybe go kill Hogger and get the green gear etc. He’s getting bored which is making me bored and I like playing Frodie.
Head to Elywnn Forest and then Westfall. Then to Loch Modan. My girl and I were just fine. Just keep moving to different zones. All those I mentioned will bump you up to level 17-20 guaranteed.
Even original Vanilla WoW was mostly a solo game outside of Dungeons, which is what made it so popular back in 2004 versus the more “hardcore” solo-unfriendly MMORPG’s of the time (EQ, DAoC, etc). Just the way that it is.
If only life was that simple. I honestly haven’t really cared for Wow as a whole for years. I just wanted to something to do with my buddy and he’s always been obsessed with this game. I’m more of a TBC man myself, but that being said I didn’t want to just ignore my best friend so here I am. He clearly prefers retail, but I honestly couldn’t play it. I tried it’s crap. Classic doesn’t bother me it’s just he’s getting bored. So I’m trying to mitigate it.
He sounds kinda needy.
Your friend sounds like the guy who wants an instant-60, and is putting little effort into leveling.
Also, according to the forums you’re level 10. How high did he expect to be with the time given? This is probably the easiest leveling to do. It gets even worse by 20-30 when you actually have to move zones.
I did Duo-leveling for this character, and it was the most fun I had. We just synced our schedules for 1-2 weeks, and leveled in no time. It’s so much easier with a person because there’s way less stress with grinding (e.g. taking camps with more than 3 mobs), as well completing elite quests that require a group.
Any collection quests in Dun Morogh should have made you take a lot more time to complete, since you’re farming for 2. I fail to realize how you can’t just grind to level 12 in Dun Morogh in about 2-3 hours.
Let’s get this spinach
I think we’ve been playing for like 4 hours or so off and on for 3 days. I’ve been busy with work.
You can get some rewards that are nice for pvp from a couple of the Elwynn Forest quests, and in both EF and Westfall you can level up gathering professions pretty fast.
In all fairness, the first 20 levels in Vanilla/Classic WoW are the worst. It doesn’t even start to get interesting/engaging until 20-40, depending on class/spec.
I recently leveled to 60 with my brother on a horde alt. Warrior and Shaman.
80% of the world kills and quests were done just the two of us. If we saw a lone player struggling, we would invite, but otherwise all kills were just the two of us, so no bonus.
We did 5 dungeons. RFC, WC, SFK, Mara (just orange and purple, no Princess), and Strath (Live and Dead).
Other than that was all quests. Didn’t run into issues till we were in our mid 50s really. And even then there were options, we just didn’t want to do the green ones heh.
So there is plenty of questing to be done at lower levels if you know where to look. Questie is a great addon that will show you where available quests are at all across the world. Just look at map and pick an area that has a cluster of yellow options.
If you guys ran out of stuff to do and are bored before you get out of a starting zone you probably weren’t going to make a long term commitment to these characters. Like other people have said, check out the other starting zones, or honestly, give retail another chance. It’s impossible to run out of content at any level over there, quite the opposite actually. It’s hard to stay within a level bracket long enough to complete quest chains and story lines in most zones.
