I sympathize with you in wanting to complete a set. I completed both a shaman and a warrior set in vanilla, and then I upgraded both to Tier 0.5 (awesome quest line). As a prot warrior, the Heroism set made for a pretty good dps offspec set. And my shaman alt was elemental, so the Five Thunders set was pretty good for that.
But when you’re in a raid, playing your main spec, if you’re wearing crappier pieces just for looks, you’re not pulling your weight with the team. You will likely get jeered at, and rightfully so. Gimping yourself for the sake of fashion is selfish and this is a team-oriented game.
