Raiding in retail and raiding in Classic are not exactly the same.
Because most of those players are stuck in retail mode, and it hasn’t dawned on them that Vanilla was a little different.
It’s mostly the top guilds that’ll get week one clears of raids except for T1 content since they need time to level.
and that has a lot to do with already knowing everything. There’s no surprises in Vanilla for those of us who looked up the information.
Every raid except MC/onyxia will die within hours of release. MC/ony will die by September 6th by multiple guilds.
In vanilla, it wasn’t uncommon for end bosses to have some bug that prevented them from being completed. There also wasn’t any player testing for the raids that I recall so no one developed strats for the fight during the testing phase, unlike retail where strats are often known before the fight even goes live.
Well that has a lot to do with guilds running a lower difficulty when in Vanilla mythic was essentially the only option, which I don’t actually think is an inherently bad thing to have a lower difficulty(though LFR is still terrible).
It’s just that people will need to understand if you play on a difficulty lower than what you can handle, you’re going to blow through the content in no time.
Though in my experience not a ton of people complain about a lack of content unless it goes for a pretty long time without anything new.
Raids in vanilla will be cleared fast cause there is more info out on all bosses and any experienced raider will deal easily with the 2 mechanics every boss has.
What will take time is grinding the required gear/attunements.
I don’t expect anyone to get week one clears. There is just too much that goes into it. 40 people to 60. You’re gonna need 40 because theres not gonna be time to get prebis. Gotta get at least 8 people through the hydraxian waterlords rep to get douses. This all excludes the fact that people are going to have to play for 4-5 days straight to get to 60 in time to get everything done. On top of all that not every class levels as fast as others. The warriors and rogues being some of the slowest classes to level.
It’s not impossible. It his very very improbable though.
Edit: Ohh and your tanks are gonna need a ton of fire resist. have fun getting that in 3 days.
I don’t know why people believe this crud. You won’t even get 60 in the first week. Afterwards, you’ll hit a number of walls. You won’t have the reputation for quints. You won’t have the tranqs for magmadar. You won’t have enough gear itself for a fight like ragnaros. Just reaching rag is hard because sulfuron/domo are not easy fights for junk geared raids.
Because people consider the raids trivial to their “larger than life” “everyone’s the hero” characters.
This thread is a great exercise in “Who actually read the OP”.
Also, making raids that take six months before first full clear is a terrible idea. The bosses would have to be incredibly overtuned for no reason other than “We want it to be hard”. Making raid content more accessible is a net positive for your playerbase and what the entire genre has been moving towards for a long time.
Yeah. Back then: we didn’t know squat about the raids. But now: You can look up a quick youtube vid or Nostalrius guide on how to do the entire raid.
Yes, you need 40 to 60, which is why most guilds aiming for the week 1 clear are recruiting 70+ players.
You only need 1 person for the hydraxian rep if you have a warlock at level 20 posted up in azshara.
the mages/hunters/etc powerlevel the warriors who are lagging behind, and if dungeon grinding is as powerful as beta leads us to believe, most guilds will be jumping into BRD at level 52 to grind BiS.
Clearing MC/Ony in the first week of launch is probably the most hardcore thing you can do in the game. The rest comes with patience and progression. You can’t repeat the first week starting with nothing and clearing a raid again. It will be interesting seeing people give up half-way on clearing MC/Ony realizing that getting to 60 alone in 1 week is tough enough.
Currently at seven people who definitely did not read the OP.
To be fair this is also case of the thread not really belonging in this forum since the OP is talking about how it was in 2004-2006 vs how it is now.
It has absolutely nothing to do with Classic.
Uhm might wanna read the post ppl. Al though the title isn’t great
40-60? you can only have 40 people in the raid. Also, after being up for 4-5 days straight then getting attuned and getting everything you need… people are going to be worn out. Also, BiS comes from more than just BRD. The biggest issue is getting your tanks FR gear. I really don’t see it happening.
I’m not even replying to the OP. I replied to someone else which apparently started the back and forth if its even possible to do it in one week or not.
Because Azeroth, even Ironforge sadly, is full of entitled, no patience cry babies.
