A friend and I are trying to Queue for Heroics as 2 DPS.
Individually we have queued for heroics and found groups within a few minutes.
If we are on different roles, such as Tank/DPS or Healer/DPS we can find a group within a few minutes.
Together as DPS we have not found a single group in a cumulative 2-3 hours.
Tried several short queues and one long queue (1hr). Neither worked.
Is there a fix for this or anything?
I’m not sure we’ve ever been officially told how match making works exactly but this seems pretty normal to me. My wife and I both play and we que for dungeons together a lot just the two of us.
When we que individually as a tank or healer, it’s usually instant.
When we que as a tank/healer, it’s usually instant.
When we que as a healer and dps or a tank and dps, it’s usually a few minutes.
When we que individually as dps, it’s usually longer than grouped with one of us playing tank or heals but its always faster if we’re qued as 2 dps.
When we que as two dps it is always 10-20m que.
My assumption is it has to do with how few of the tanks or healers actually que solo for the dungeon finder, which is why the bounty rewards for those roles only are offered for the players who are queuing by themselves.
Think about it…
If the majority of tanks or healers come with 1 dps. Then even if your group of 2 dps is the highest priority to fill… the first group of players to join your group in the que will be a tank and another dps or a healer and another dps. This leaves you exactly one spot which means you need either a solo qued tank or healer to fill that last open spot.
The worst possible outcome is to que as 2 dps…and have the system give you a 3rd dps then make you wait for either a tank and healer together or one of each role individually - assuming you accept that few tanks and healers que alone.
There’s a chance the que treats someone who ques with a secondary role differently than someone who ques as just one role even if they ultimatley get in the same role. For example it might prioritize individuals who volunteer to do tanking or healing but may slot them as DPS by RNG to fill the group rather than intelligently ignoring the DPS role and slotting them into a healing role knowing that is the rarer of those in queue.
If your not the same level and item level then you could be in different dungeon pools that would explain different wait times.
If your different factions your in entirely different ques to begin with because you can’t que together cross faction and you will only get placed in a group with players of your faction.
I also don’t know how the LFG works these days with cross server pooling. Now that any server player can join a group with anyone else. Does that allow for that same mixing within the LFG system or does it try to put you in a pool of players on your server, battlegroup or whatever first or some subset of servers before it broadens it out. That could be a factor as well.
