Dungeon or raid?

Which do you enjoy more? Not considering rewards/loot. Just pure game playing experience.

I personally enjoy dungeons a lot more. It feels more involved whether I play tank, healer or dps.

Raid I feel so much less impactful if I’m dps (I’m not topping the chart or anything). Also the fight is too long and much of the time just spend waiting and chatting before the pull.

What do you enjoy?

Raids, I find playing with more players more fun. I really hate when fights on heroic encourage smaller groups like they did with Nzoth.

I love raiding! I like that each boss is like a new chapter that you get to explore with your friends. And if you fail, no worries! You can try again right after!

I like dungeons when you can explore them, but I am not a fan of M+. A lot of people enjoy it. It’s just not my cup of tea. I don’t like that failing a key means you get one level less - I wish they gave you and your friends the option to try the exact same key afterwards. I’d also be happy if they let you choose which dungeon/level you run. I can’t stand the keystone system, it is way too random.

If given the option I would prefer an older style dungeon that was challenging but didn’t have the timer that pushes the “go go go pull everything now” mentality.

I prefer raid, because the encounters are more engaging and involved. Plus it is more social than dungeons where most of the experience is just trash pulls.

Raids. It’s a bigger social event.

I love both but both the tank(s) and healer(s) can make or break a dungeon or raid. They control how smooth it all runs. This of coarse, is if dps aren’t jerks.

Raids. It’s a lot easier to hide. :3

completely agree.
The timer ruins it for me

I like raids more, but my schedule doesn’t allow for them very well.

Raiding for sure. The dungeons are basically the same through the whole xpac. By the time I’m done leveling, I’m usually tired of looking at them. I used to just enjoy raiding, now I feel pressured to do m+ in order to raid. SL is making some improvments towards that with the changes to chest. I might be able to just raid again, but I doubt it.

Depends on what class I’m playing

Iv never tanked a raid so tank dungeon

Healer -raid

Dps - casters raids melee both

Raids are nice in that I can do them with pretty much my whole guild, and they don’t have an annoying timer mode. I mean I don’t hate M+ but it feels more like a chore than progression, and it’s nice to be able to work on a boss or two and call it a successful raid night, as opposed to getting stuck halfway through a dungeon for hours until someone has to leave.

From a story standpoint, though, I feel like the dungeons in BFA did a better job of conveying what’s going on that the raids. Uldir was…a lot of blood? And killing Ghuun, yeah, but it felt like a lot of what happened in there was diversionary. Battle for Dazar’Alor was pretty intense on the story throughout, but it’s the exception I think. Nyalotha just felt like a Mega Man game. Traverse platforms to fight a series of bad guys in their garages. Carapace was neat, but was just fighting one of said garages.

I like LFD over LFR. Back when I had a guild I still liked Dungeons over Raids. I don’t do much of either anymore outside of TWing and leveling dungeons.

Raids are way better than Mythic+. I get to spend more of my time tanking and less of my time being a babysitter. If I do happen to be the raid leader, I can use /rw and be pretty sure people will hear me. I also get to coordinate with another tank.

I can spend my time learning bosses without having to get intimate with every trash mob. The content is actually challenging, in the sense that the group can reach roadblocks that it can’t overcome, rather than having only the artificial challenge of racing a timer.

In principle, 5 man content could scale to provide the same type of challenge - maybe M+ with all tyrannical weeks and no timer - but unfortunately, Blizzard hasn’t managed to do that yet.

I felt this way too until I played through the whole quest line. If you do the quest line first, fights like Wrathion and Ra-den make a lot more sense with respect to how they fit into the story.

Definitely raids.

I play WoW for the people, and there’s a lot more people to interact with in raids and it’s a much more leisurely pace to joke around and talk with folks.

There’s also a lot more strategy required, lots of parts that need to work together, people need to do different key things, cooperation is key.

Overall, raids are just an infinitely more social experience. And as a social player, that’s what I’m here for.

raid by far but you cant raid everyday -.- not enough bosses, weekly lockouts…

not comparable.

the only upside of dungeons is that you can run 10(+) a day everyday if you want to.

if i could id raid 3 hours a day, every day ; but my guildies probably would burn out

I really like both.

Dungeons: currently my play time allows more of dungeon spamming (m+) and the idea of trying to find good comps who work well together in only 5 slots

Raids: progression is a lot of fun, granted I have done no progression this expansion, in wotlk when I had more play time it was fun to get into voice comms and progress and have multiple people with different ideas on how to progress
