I made a new character recently and thought maybe I will do some dungeons to level to get the gameplay down, etc. The trash mobs are dying in literally less than a second, getting one shot by a level 11 resto shaman. What happened to elites being elite? Is this working as intended? It’s certainly not fun and feels almost insulting. If the idea is for us to level faster, at least make these dungeons beefier and just have them give more experience. This is really weird.
What dungeon did you run on this 11 shaman?
Should be faster imo…but yea lvl 10 to 15 scaling is sorta whack in dungeons
I was grouped with one. Currently in slag mines and it’s the same deal. Just another resto shaman lol. And a “tank” warrior who is fury one shotting the dungeon spamming whirlwind.
Would you say…it’s a slap in the face?!
I know we all like different things, but I enjoy how much faster and easier leveling has become compared to the way it used to be.
Welcome to low level dungeon scaling. best way to fix it is to buff mob HP by about 350% at level 10, scaling down to live values at level 50.
Hrm. Probably like the other poster said, scaling is just wacky at early levels. Things should get more normalized in the 30+ level range.
I’m all for leveling being fast. But I’d like to be able to do it while not one shotting everything on the way. I can’t learn that way and it feels completely pointless.
In my opinion, the best way to fix it is to implement a system like ESO’s. Every mob in the game is max level and the players get a buff based on their level that is reduced to 0 when they reach cap. This creates a consistent difficulty that can easily be balanced for all classes.
Obviously, WoW would have to have some caveats to that since we have “old” content. But it would still be better than what we currently have because right now, it’s all over the place.
Unfortunately, yes, it is working as intended. They managed to make leveling so easy and fast that it actually feels slower and worse than it ever has. It’s kind of like how I’d have more fun playing 8 hours of Total War than playing 1 hour of solitaire. 8 hours of total war sounds like a blast. 1 hour of solitaire sounds like a slog.
that rotation between levels 10 and 30 that 2 button rotation on most specs. Got to get learning
That specific situation is about scaling and heirlooms making very low level characters (1-20ish) a million times stronger than the game is designed for.
I agree it’s a bit rediculous but it is in part because you have so few abilities at low levels. Most people just dont find it…fun fighting a tough mob, and pressing the same ability over and over again. If you like that, there is always Classic, and that is basically how the game used to be.
Leveling is quick enough and once you get to max level (well the new heroics soon, with the change) and mythic dungeons you arn’t going to be oneshotting the enemies.
P.S. Part of the price of scaling different character levels so that they can play together.
P.P.S. This is also why you’ll see a level 50 doing a full rotation, doing the same damage as a level 10 who is hitting one button.
I run into this in practically every dungeon I run on my lowbies. lol
Sometimes it’s twinks. But not always.
The insane amount of damage they can do between 10-20 with chain lightning is just nuts.
It is. Even removing the potential presence of twinks in the 10-20 bracket (fun and free trial available), it’s still incredibly easier to do your rotation when you only gotta spam that one skill.
So yeah, it’s just the level 10-20s that seem to be busted. I just ran one with all 30+ and it felt great. Scaling needs to be adjusted.
It doesn’t. It takes a lot of effort, time, and luck to build a twink at that bracket, and they use that bracket cause it’s the easiest and the one bracket that is free to play. You want to dump all over that gameplay style?
Blizzard does this to mess with the new players, so when hit level cap and do the same dungeon you will instantly die. Seems about right!
That’s a little dramatic, no? Just thinking maybe they shouldn’t be one shotting groups of elites at level 11.
The same thing would happen at every bracket. Just happens that below 20 is the preferred one because of trial players. You touch scaling, you mess up with everyone’s, not just the few twinks. And to what gain? It literally doesn’t matter.
You’ll harm a lot more than the few that annoys you.
