As a friend group of level 70s, how do we level sync ourselves to old content or activate Chromie Time for dungeons?
My friends and I have recently returned to WoW after over a decade hiatus are now all max level and wanting to play old dungeons together for fun, achievements, and cosmetics but without 1-shotting everything.
We heard that level sync and Chromie Time were added to enable playing old content at an appropriate power level, but we can’t figure out how to activate either of the features when we go to the dungeons in the world, and we don’t see the option in Dungeon Finder.
My apologies if I’m just blind and missing an obvious button somewhere. The most recent topics I’ve found about it are from 2022 or earlier.
Thank you! We’re super excited to run through some Cataclysm Heroics for old time’s sake and then through the dungeons we missed in each of the expansions since then.
So if you are level 70 you can’t do the Chromie stuff directly. How it will work is if one of you is under 60, they can timewalk to whatever campaign they want. Then when the rest of you are in the party with that one person, you open your quest log and at the bottom is a button that is called “Party Sync”. Once everyone syncs, then you will be able to timewalk with that one party memeber.
Your only option for this is to wait for the Cataclysm timewalking event or just run them at 70 and steamroll everything. Even with party sync, you can’t do heroics.
This is a function I’d love to do, but sadly it isn’t available unless Blizzard deigns to let us do old content at higher level.
But seriously, I’d love it if timewalking was just a thing we could do instead of it being arbitrarily gated off, or funneled to one specific expansion.
I guess we’ll just run through and one-shot everything instead then… It seems very weird that a premade 5 group of friends doesn’t get the option to be synced to an appropriate power level for lower level dungeons and raids in the world; heck even just an option to say “set the party to level [x]” at will.
While I do see why they’d disallow max levels to sync in random dungeon queues with less than a full premade 5 group to keep queues healthy, not allowing people to form their own groups or go into older content having manually synced themselves without using dungeon finder seems like a major oversight.
It’s disheartening that 20 years of old content is basically dead to players who don’t enjoy having a ton of alts. Hopefully it’ll happen someday!
I have over 20 alts at this point and I still wish I could go back and do everything.
I imagine it will. Party sync was a great addition, so was timewalking. Like I said in my thread I linked, all the pieces are there. They could make something truly great if they really wanted to and I hope someday they do.
