and the whole concept of such a thing being in game creates a lazy uninformed player mentality and a community as a whole you open that thing up and it tells you the one or 2 things to avoide
and its not hard to tell in this lame box everything is designed and creativity we used to see in the past just dosent exist anymore and the core of the problem starts with something as seemingly little as this i would hope for it to be phased out
I only use it to predict drops, and wowhead would do if it wasn’t there. I don’t see much use for it aside from that though.

How can the dungeon journal promote laziness when players don’t even read the thing and get mad when they get their cheeks clapped by margrave stradamas tentacles 500x?

So, I assume you also have a problem with guides, correct?
So let’s say there is no journal, no guides.
Hop into a mythic raid. See how well that goes
I would say ,if i understand right, that the dungeon journal is only reference to what you need to know before you head in a dungeon in general,It doesn’t tell you how to do these techniques. That there is on the individual own skill.
The journal just tells you what the boss abilities do, not how to do the fight.
People not willing to learn the game has nothing to do with the journal being there or not. They would be unwilling to look at that information if it was on Wowhead, google or anywhere else. The fact that it is in game has nothing to do with it.
I have even had some lazy people get upset when I try to explain the fight using the dungeon journal. It is funny.

Well l think something is better than nothing . So having journal is better than having nothing else

All it does is integrate an inferior version of atlas loot into the game. On the list of issues the game has, the dungeon journal is probably at the very bottom.
Op,when you started playing this game you build up your skills you need for these dungeon in the world,The more difficult they are the better, these are the same skills you use in the dungeons or raids. Everyone uses them if you play the game, but i have to say it’s not easy playing as a team ,some love it ,some don’t.
The dungeon journal is fine. Everyone and their mom expects everyone else and their mom to have watched a video or read a guide before jumping into (especially raid) content. The journal just provides a barebones version of that in-game so people aren’t being forced to do research out-of-game if they don’t want to.

I think they are trying to spice up DBM/weak aura troll bait thread by going for dungeon guide now.
Points given for new troll there. Not many, just a few.
It’s good to do both and also be confident in their skills to do them.
hmm,are they really getting that way now? where they actual want the journal to become a video selection than a reading content?
fights are getting harder and more complicated every tier, and here is OP claiming there’s no creativity in fight design.
so cute.

Really? I thought some of the fights in dungeons and raids these past few expansions have been quite fun and creative.
My problem with the journal is that it does an abysmal job in actually telling you what abilities look like what. I mean, ok. So I avoid X Y and Z. Great. Now what the hell X Y and Z look like? Oh what’s that? This is your first time so you don’t know? Oh look. You died. You have been removed from the group.
The dungeon what? I have never heard of such a thing.
Remove the loot table, too?
And even then the dot point summaries for each the 3 roles (tank, healer, dps) only cover the basic of basic mechanics that you would see on LFR. Nothing about mechanics that appear on normal (yes some bosses have mechanics removed for lfr that do appear on normal mode) or higher difficulties.
For dungeons it only covers the normal / heroic mechanics. As for shadowlands, extra mechanics only appear on mythic difficulty instead of heroic like it was for previous expansions (TBC onwards).
It does annoy me that the in-game loot tables do not show trash drops for certain dungeons and raids.
