Dungeon finder tool should work like this Blizzard:
Random level 32 rogue wants to run Gnomer and wants to get things moving asap as they don’t have 45 minutes to spam for a group.
Opens dungeon finder.
Selects Gnomer out of the list.
Selects role in dungeon.
Enters 4.5g into the new “Bid amount” window. (Only dps have to bid, tanks and heals run for free)
Watches as a tank joins the group almost immediately.
Watches as a Warlock joins the group, also bidding 4.5g to join the party. (No competition present, therefore initial minimum 4.5g bid is enough).
Watches as healer joins group.
Watches as Mage joins group, bidding 10g to join the party as they had to compete with another dps for last spot. (After a DPS spot is first bid on a 5 minute bidding window begins).
Group finishes dungeon and 25% of the bid(19g total, so 4.75g) goes to the tank and another 25% to the healer, the dps split the remaining balance evenly.
(If any of the dps leave the group before completion 50% of their bid is forfeited to the group. This also applies to disconnects in which a party member doesn’t return within 5 minutes and is removed from the group after that point while still in a disconnected state. Someone who is manually removed from the group for any other reason other than a disconnect has all of their bid amount returned to them to avoid exploitation of the system.)
You should have tagged this as a hc thing then as I see that nowhere in your OP.
People run dungeons multiple times in Era all the time.
Guess just not on your server?
It’s not a hc thing at all, what I meant was if dungeon runs are much easier to find people might be encouraged to play like back in the day instead of hc.
Sure you’re entitled to believe that.
Just as we are able to point out that it’s not needed and does directly interfere with one of the core pillars of the game design regarding nurturing and protecting social experiences.
The LFG channel and networking ie talking to people in game works just fine to get groups.
I think you’re 100% incorrect on this as I think the bidding system actually ENCOURAGES social interaction immensely. Allow me to explain:
Example 1
Player A joins a group that only needs a healer and the bids for the group are higher than normal, especially the final dps spot the bidding got out of control for it. What does Player A do? Whisper one of their friends to hop on their healing alt to come get paid out.
Example 2
Players posting in Lookingforgroup channel that they only need a tank or healer and total bid pool is x an unusually high amount of gold. Not only does this encourage the type of social interaction you are referring to it ALSO encourages social engagements between players discussing the unusually high bid pool for the dungeon.
First of all, only dps has to pay to join the group.
Second of all, dps make gold easier than tanks or healers so it helps balance things out.
Third of all, many more groups would be forming and there would still be groups available that have a low or even no bid at all if they want to try and get a tank and healer who don’t want to be paid for their time(some won’t care.)
The equation is sort of like this: when tanks and healers get incentivized to run more dungeons more dungeons happen and since dps make gold easier they can afford to pay for the tank and healer so doesn’t the system kind of make sense??
I think people should be encouraged to play this one and I’m sure Blizzard agrees. This is a way of doing that and it really doesn’t change things all that much for those who don’t like it, they will still find groups for free.
Incentivizing people to not only roll a tank or healer but to repeat the same dungeons as one means more dungeons being run. It also encourages economic activity as the dps try to acquire gold to pay for runs and considering the 17% of the gold bid pool and loot from the dungeon coming their way they should be able to pay for more runs pretty quickly.
