Dungeon Finder - "Recently Qued for a Random Dungeon" wait times

In the wonderful world of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, we now have the Dungeon Finder que. What we also have in Wrath Classic is about 6/16 dungeons that people who que in to group finder will leave immediately once entering. That’s an almost 50% chance when queuing in Dungeon Finder to lose someone, or multiple people, before the dungeon has even started.

A few commonly abandoned dungeons to mention are: Azjol-Nerub, Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom, The Culling of Stratholme, Halls of Reflection, Trial of the Champion, The Occulus.

Typically this would not be a problem, as whomever leaves immediately receives a 30min deserter penalty and cannot re-que. However, in the event that after seeing someone leave (particularly a tank) others will decide to leave the dungeon and the group will crumble, every person in that group receives a “You have recently queued in dungeon finder” wait time of up to 20 minutes, only 10 minutes less than a deserter would receive.

I find this wait time to be inappropriate. The current Dungeon Finder format penalizes you for even attempting to get in a queued group. The precedent here is, to the Dungeon Finder que, even if you have not left the group or done anything “wrong” the actions of others can cause you to be penalized just for attempting to attend the group.

I have had personal experience circumstances where as a healer I queued in to a group that had a failing healer, once I queued in to the dungeon two of the dps left and the group crumbled. I took a 20 minute wait time to que again just for even attempting to come in to that group that was failing. I had no control over what group it queued me in to, therefore, not I nor anyone else should be penalized with a wait time as if we could somehow control that. The idea a completely innocent group member will receive a que penalty only 10m less than that of a deserter… well… that is incentivizing players to leave groups without care, or just avoiding queuing entirely which defeats the purpose of implementing the Dungeon Finder.

I find this a fairly simple fix, but I am no programmer so I will leave this plea with the Blizzard dev gurus and pray we can get some positive changes on the way for Wrath Classic Dungeon Finder “recent que” times. I can gather the signatures of probably dozens if not hundreds of players and streamers who reflect this same frustration in regards to the DF “recent que” wait times.

If something can be done about this a huge swathe of the community will really appreciate the adjustment.

(If you have had personal experiences with this, please share them in the replies here! Make sure Blizzard has visibility on this concern!) Thank you!

Yup.

NPCs to fill out your dungeon group.

That’s it.

That’s all.

Every other solution anyone suggests is an unworkable pipe dream that doesn’t account for human nature.

Went to the dark side I see.

Probably may as well. Personally, I stopped playing Wrath (and Classic Progression in general) around the time they introduced RDF. Not because of RDF specifically, but it definitely plays a role in my loss of interest.

My personal preference of a “solution” to this problem would be to just remove RDF, but that’s obviously not what the people who are enjoying it and playing that version of the game want.

Plus, it’s really stupid.
